Any chance you can put Blaze 114 on the scale?

So stoked to hear you digging them! Just got a pair myself, though I went 184 due to smaller mountain here.

Reminds me of classic Katana/bodes rocker with just the smidgest of camber to give better hard performance.

I see that too. Here’s my 2013 Bodacious with just that smidge of camber.
Coincidentally, Arne’s sister Ingrid is a Volkl athlete…

A tad less metal, 3D sidecut, and still has that crazy mix of Volkl stability and versatility…but less taxing too.

With m102, what’s the recommended baseline points on ski for detuning tips and tails? My tiny m102’s are supposed to arrive today, assuming UPS is willing to drive down my road.

I didn’t detune at all. Spectacular factory tune.

….but I also skied it more or less exlusively on groomers the first 6-7 days, so that might have something to do with it

Mine did not have a spectacular factory tune.
Having said that I have not felt a need to get the bases flattened although they are not flat in the tips but a bit more flat in the tails.

I put a trubar on them and ran it first thing. Edge high for a ways up front and a bit in the back. Underfoot was better but still.

I plan on getting a grind soon, but nothing's screaming at me.
And FWIW, it's the best skiing unflat ski I've ever skied on, so there's that.

I did a basic gummy detune on tips and tail. Have done much since. I ski heavy coastal PNW conditions and agree that the factor tune was quite good.

So I guess my Q is how far down into tip and tail for detune? Detune tip and tail to the point where their sidecut starts or further towards center? I’m happy to carry an old tuning stone or quarter with me during initial days for fine tuning.

For the past many years, over a decade, all my skis were bought used and I just went with the detune they already had and only messed with the sharp portions of the edges. So I haven’t dealt with detuning for a long time and not on any modern ski design. Feeling like a jong.

I have skivisions tools so I can deal with minor factor tune issues if there are problems.

Ski arrival now sometime next week instead of yesterday. Many roads are not expected to be passable in my area until Monday or Tuesday. Too much of anything is just enough. <sigh>

I wouldn't touch them till you ski, then detune where you feel it's appropriate unless your true bar shows convex or concave bases.

Here i am typing this as i wait to get a fix to the result of a knee-uppercut to the jaw when a zipper gets in the way. I'm usually a more conservative, if still highly aggressive skier, so what ski inspired such foolhardy confidence that I wanted to pillow-line a bunch of wind drifts..?

...The 191 revolt 114. Soft snow annihilator. Floats well enough for width, but it's strength was making the boot-top chop feel like untracked, even (and especially when) driving and going fast. It very much wants you to lean forward, because I got stood up on the tails more than once and they are not effortlessly loose; you do have to tell them to let go, but it is not a struggle to do that. Softish groomer performance was strong if bland..which is not what its for so who cares. The edge hold however was vintage volkl. Does not compare to a wildcat, much more of a damp charger and not near as playful. Too fucking heavy to dance in trees all day but whatever I'll just keep looking for that. I don't think it skis like a revolt at all. I want one with a better topsheet.

The 184 was oddly grabbing and hooking but was fine in the pow and chop so i can only fairly presume it to be a jank tune or bevel.

I daily drive the full rocker mantras from 2016. I love how maneuverable they feel in moguls, while still being able to charge fairly hard. I also have more stable skis like Monster 108s and Pro Riders, which are great but only for open terrain.

I'm wondering where the Katana 108s would fit in between these skis? Can they handle bumps even 80% as well as older full rocker Mantra/Katanas? If so, I'm in. I want a little more stability than my 16' Mantra. I wan't a pair, but don't need another rocketship that can't wiggle around a little bit.

I'm starting to want a pair the more I read about Revolt 114. Currently have Declivity X and Bodacious in that spot, have you skied either of those to compare to R114?

Id probably want bodes on the wide open faces days after the last snow when the crud starts to form, but only there. Revolts are much more forgiving and mobile at slower speeds but are still a lot of work to throw around in tight glades that force you to slow down...

The revolt 114 ski like if a wildcat and blackops hatefucked and had a bastard child. The 184/191 are 2400/2500g...

I saw that, and asked where he is mounting. -1cm on his.

I put mine on the line and they rip midwest groomers for now. Can't wait to get them out west.

So is the Revolt 114 just a Confession 2.0 with 3D radius side cut and touch more taper? 146/114/128 vs 144/117/133
