Everybody is catching episode 1 of The Captain tonight, right?

I'm just confused about how they were able to fit his whole career into 7 episodes.

I’ll tune in cause I love baseball and if it’s anything like 30 for 30 it will be good storytelling. But, fuck can we get any more Yankee or Red Sox content into ESPN?

Also, these kids snagging balls in the Derby can’t catch shit.

I know its the most unoriginal take ever, but Jeter truly is the most overrated player in any sport of my lifetime. Slightly better version of Miguel Tejada who played for an amazing Yankees team. Really good player but not even close to the all time great he is portrayed as.

Juan Soto is good at baseball

And agreed. Jeter is fully overrated. I saw a great breakdown awhile back about how a ton of his most spectacular plays would have been routine for better SS’s.

Yeah. Omar is top ten defensive WAR in his career. Jeter doesn’t even crack the top 1,000.

^^Cal at #4 is surprising to me. 3 Orioles in the top 4 is pretty good.

Yeah, it's a pretty interesting list all around. I was young when Ozzie was in his prime, so I don't remember him too much, but it's no surprise he's right at the top.

Hate to say it but I am on the fence about Jeter. y'all know I hate the Yankees since the 70s, and I am no Jeter apologist ( Giambi was fkn safe!) but the dude played 2,674 games at short, 3 dozen less than the man Omar. He did that in the white hot glare of the NYC media spotlight and was the leader of teams with MASSIVE egos on them. He has more hits than any other shortstop and again was the defacto leader even before being named captain of teams that won 5 rings. He was the Unanimous AL ROTY for a reason and kept that offensive production up for 20 years

Did he deserve all the all stars, prolly not. the Gold Gloves? Def not but the dude was consistently very good for a very long time and never shied away from the big moment.
Does he deserve a 12 part biopic? no but the dude deserves his spot in the HOF

All Star game in Chavez Ravine
Joe Davis calling it, Kershaw with the ball to start. Mookie, Trey, Freddie, its a whos who of players we took from teams that beat us in the post season. At least our pitchers are mostly homegrown. Be fun to see Joc and COrey Seager too

These are the fucking worst uniforms in recent memory.

And that includes the 4th of July garb they rolled out.

They look like something one would find on a big day in Conference USA.

But, that’s just one man’s opinion, don’t give it any more than that.

ETA: Natl League are ok. White and gold is sharp. The AL gear looks fit for a Florida International University homecoming game.

I can see that. I really like the hats.

Not sure why we need to mic up every Yankee, but it is a game on Fox.

They balanced it out by having Papi interview all the Yankees and Sox.

Fox toned it down tonight ( as did Deiter our usually Hillarious organist) but the West LA Fadeaway out to commercial was well played.
