Clarification, I was responding to the ‘taker out on land’ comment up thread. That seems to me to be quite difficult compared to flying them out of the immediate area and to then truck em down canyon.

DRAPER, Utah – Recovery operations for two Utah Army National Guard UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters involved in a training accident last week will begin March 2, 2022 until complete.
The UH-60 Black Hawks will be sling-loaded from the Mineral Basin area by a Nevada Army National Guard CH-47 Chinook and transported to Heber Valley Airport, Heber City, Utah. Air and ground crews will then load the aircraft on lowboy trailers for ground transport to the Utah Army Aviation Support Facility in West Jordan.
"Although military training operations can be dangerous, accidents of this nature rarely happen," said Col. Shane Manwaring, commander, 97th Aviation Troop Command. "Our Soldiers have worked tirelessly to prepare the aircraft for extraction from the area. It has been great to see our community partners support these efforts, especially the agencies of Snowbird, the U.S. Forest Service, Wasatch County, Wasatch County Sheriff, Heber City Police, Utah Highway Patrol, and the Heber Valley Airport."
The damaged aircraft are prepped for recovery operations and combined crews from the Utah and Nevada Army National Guard will use unit maintenance aerial-recovery kits to rig the aircraft to be hooked up to the CH-47 for air transport.
The public, mainly in the Heber Valley area, may hear noise from National Guard aircraft during the recovery operations the afternoon of March 2 and the morning of March 3, 2022.
“I’m extremely grateful that the Utah National Guard aircrews involved in the multi-aircraft incident at Mineral Basin walked away with only minor injuries. High-altitude recovery operations are complex by their very nature, especially with the restricted terrain and unpredictable weather patterns in Mineral Basin,” said Lt. Col. Gordon Pedersen, Utah National Guard Director of Aviation and Safety. “For the safety of the Soldiers involved in the recovery operation and the general public, we are asking everyone to avoid Mineral Basin and the Heber Valley Airport on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning."

well I hope it produces some cool videos from the ridge today. Somehow mineral basin is open today according to snowbird. Maybe actual slinging will take place at a later date.
Hope somebody is gettin footy of this shit...
Time spent skiing cannot be deducted from one's life.
Miserable basin closed at 2pm today and soon after there were at least a hundred people along the ridge line like they were waiting for a rope drop except they all had their phones out filming the action. I peek over for a second and saw a Chinook flying up the valley and then we bailed to ski more slush. I have no idea what happened after that. But yea TFW I’d say at least a hundred people got footy.
Hunting kicks ass.

Despite all the talk of these choppers that can lift the wreckage out of there. Who wants to bet me that they don’t fly them out?
