It's also tough because when they transitioned is also a big thing. As someone who knows multiple families where their kids changed gender identify before the age of 10, telling those kids "sorry, but you can't play sports" is just more shit on top of all the shit they get every day just for living. I have a hard time excluding people simply because they're trans without additional gates around performance. That's why I say more generally class things with "Open" at the top for either gender as the real champion stuff. There's probably plenty of high-level women that would enjoy more competition as well, not to mention men that aren't gifted with height that are basically out of many sports from the jump.

I haven't, but based on the studies Dylan cites regarding strength/power-based activities I'm sure jumping follows a similar pattern and trans women retain significant advantages.

You would certainly expect the physiological differences to be much smaller for trans women that did not go through male puberty. I don't know if there's any good data on that, though.

Because of all the money involved. It corrupts everything.

That's pretty fair. It's like amateur bike racing, if you keep winning in a given category, you have to move up. Seems hard to operationalize it in youth sports though, it's not like there are 5 levels of Little League teams.

It's actually like this in age group swimming already. Everything involves time standards. For example, if you meet the B standard you can swim at a B meet, but if you've got the A cut you can't. If you meet the sectionals standard you get to swim sectionals, etc.

You mean as opposed to faking birth certificates for south and central American immigrants?

Yeah .... even within the local/national context of those laws they're mostly guidelines i.e. interpreted by subjective individuals. When the conquering horde comes swarming through they're not even an after thought.

You must not have gone to a UC school. I had a hard time rescheduling tests around nationals.
