Oh yeah - big bad Mt. A opens Caturday.![]()
Did a nice launch off a knoll at 30, got 25 ft down the hill and maybe 4 ft off the snow. Stuck that inverted 180. Headache to prove it.
Because you were inverted? Sounds gnar.
If it makes you feel any better, I hucked my meat on a Hollywood line yesterday without issue. Early season conditions be damned!
First run of the year and knee-deep pow. The wait was worth it. La Nina is here. BRING IT!!

DECISION MEMO
Mt. Hood Meadows
Mt. Hood Express Chairlift Replacement Project
USDA Forest Service
Hood River Ranger District, Mt. Hood National Forest
Hood River County, Oregon
Section 3 and 4, Township 3S, Range 9E
December 2021
BACKGROUND
Mt. Hood Meadows (MHM) proposes to replace the existing Mt. Hood Express chairlift within the MHM
special use permit (SUP) area located on the Mt. Hood National Forest (MHNF). The proposed project is
consistent with the goals and objectives identified in the 1990 MHNF Land and Resource Management
Plan (1990 Forest Plan), which allocated the MHM SUP area as A11 – Winter Recreation Area.
Management direction provided for A11 areas is as follows: Provide areas for high quality winter
recreation (and associate summer) opportunities, including: downhill skiing, Nordic skiing,
snowmobiling, and snowplay within a natural appearing forest environment. The attached figure depicts
the location of this project.
DECISION
Based on project scoping and analysis conducted, it is my decision to authorize the replacement of the
existing Mt. Hood Express chairlift situated entirely within the SUP area (refer to the attached figure).
The existing chairlift was installed in 1994 and has met its operational life expectancy. The existing
detachable, four-person chairlift will be replaced by a high-speed, detachable-grip, six-person chairlift.
The bottom terminal will be replaced in the same vicinity as the existing terminal, while the top terminal
will be constructed minorly to the west of the existing top terminal based on engineering specifications.
The shifted top terminal will be located on bare ground and will be within or adjacent to the previously
disturbed ground from the existing top terminal. The shift in terminal location will improve skier egress
from the lift and add milling area for skiers proximate to the terminal.
Thanks Puma. I need to call dad he'll keep me in line. Bobcat Sig good to hear your enjoying your ski day. The launch was not planned, hooked an inside ski and it was game over.
HRM is a go!
