All the best traffic circles have a) that sidewalk thing that people in their overland rigs can drive over and b) lots of plants and shit in the middle so you can't see over the top to see if cars are coming. vibes.

They are designed so you can’t see over them so you slow down. It’s intentional.

I’d kill for my morning commute to be a series of roundabouts instead of red lights and stop signs with minimal traffic. No one really stops at those anymore anyways though.

The only issue I have with roundabouts is some in Bend are quite off-camber which makes it spicy when icy.

The one on Hwy 20 @ west end of Sisters has metal sculptures of elk and antelope in the center circle. It wakes you up if you aren't paying attention in the early morning gloom.

Also, here is how complaints about roundabouts, traffic circles and speed humps works:

Public: “The traffic circle/roundabout/speed hump makes it so I have to slow down and I don’t like that.”

Engineer: “oh good, it’s working.”

I saw a civil engineer describe his idea for getting people to pay attention "You mount a big sharp spike on the steering wheel hub"

…but it is a short trip from being full of assholes. John Day kid signing on to say fuck Baker and the horse they rode in on. It was a good day beating them in their own Home Coming game after they brought their serpentine parade down our sideline to taunt and cuss us out. Moved on after high school to coach football at another high school and kicked their ass in a few more playoff games, but they never shed their asshole ways. Chose not to shake our players hands after the game and their parents were the worst I have ever seen.

The extra five minutes from La Grande is worth it to ski Anthony Lakes.

Alright enough from me, I will get back on the roundabouts and move on.

We thought Baker had a somewhat weird vibe. Nice historic downtown but something was off. Maybe we’ll try La Grande next time or the cabins on Antone Creek

Well the Interstate is nearby. One place we stayed was sketchy but other parts of town were fine. Just like people.

Yeah, I like it all there. Even Tiehack for a bunch of laps without liftlines. Been going there since 98. But when they moved away in 2009 there was no free lodging or lift tickets to be had in the roaring fork valley. Since moving back and reestablishing in Basalt, the free lodging/lifts are back. It will be sister's and my celebration of our 50th year skiing. I started at 5 and she at 3. She was better than me, it was raining, and I hated it. The hate didn't last long.
