    Salomon X2 Lab Boots, Thoughts?

I did a quick search here and on Google and wanted to get some impressions from people using them.

I have been skiing on an older pair of Nordica Grand Prix RTs. They are from my ski instructing days. I'd stay on them but the soles at the interface have pretty much worn out. So now I am looking to get new boots. I went to the local dealer and tried on some solly's for fit. My wife loves hers so I thought I'd give it a try.

I'm looking for a no frills, stiff boot that will last for about 6/7 seasons. I wanted to know how the fit compares to:

    1. Nordica Grand Prix (my old boot)
    2. Salomon XWave 9 (at the local REI)
    3. Salomon Pro Model Spaceframe (at the local ski shop)

Right now, I'm considering the Pro Model or the X2s... Thoughts? I definitely will have some work done on the boots this winter as well.

I wear a 26.0 in the Grand Prixs and they fit like a glove. I weigh about 185/190lbs and ski on 4frnt MSPs, Salomon 1080s, and some big powder gun this winter.

    THANKS.

I ski on the X2. Like any plug boot, a lot of fitting is required. Also be sure your foot is fairly narrow to start. The X2 can be a little cold, as the liner is quite thin.

That said, this boot rips, better energy transmission and feel than any other bott I've skiied. Flex feels a little more compliant than my old Courses (the retail version, flex 130). Boot stiffens up a lot in the cold.

Ski on the older X2 (prior to the spaceframe) like Mechmaster said great energy and feel, noticeably different than the stock course boot. Narrower all the way through the boot than the other boots you mentioned. I'd replace the liner for a start, it's not too bad, but I ended up trashing mine in a year, and went to a G-fit liner instead. Definately a thin liner not real friendly for cold days.

They aren't as narrow as some of the other plugs, (Doberman and the Lange) but definately took a good amount of wprl to get them dialed in, I'm average width but took the most out of the heel cup, and forefoot.
Skiing, where my mind is even if my body isn't.
