David Roberts, one of my favorite authors ever, passed away recently. If you have ever read any of his books, you know what a loss this is. If you haven’t read him, you should. He covered a very wide range of ‘adventure’ writing, but Moments Of Doubt and Mountain of My Fear are seriously classic. Some great books about the Anasazi/Ancestral Puebloans as well.

One of the best, reading Moments of Doubt in high school was half the reason I came to Colorado.

Devoured his books when I was getting into alpine climbing years ago. He never really got the recognition he deserved IMO. RIP

Can anyone provide a link to his essay on not being able to visit the desert anymore because he was sick? I thought it was published in the NYT recently but I can't find it.

Great writer and one of the reasons that Outside "used" to be so good. RIP.
