Arva EVO 5 Transceiver: Self Switch from Send to Search

I haven’t posted anything in a loooong time but this is extremely important for the community to know.....

Yesterday while skiing off the summit of Gothic Mountain my Arva EVO 5 transceiver switched itself from send to search!!!!

It took me a few moments to figure out what the beeping sound was and I was lucky I could hear it over the strong westerly winds. I’m sure this is a freakish incident, but one time is too many for such an essential backcountry tool. If it can happen once, it can happen again.

I will definitely be returning this transceiver for something different as I can no longer trust my life to a device with this type of design flaw. I’m not upset, but disappointed, and certainly concerned for any other people who are using this unit. I urge Arva to look into this mechanism and reevaluate its design. Thanks.
