My dog used to be super well trained with food. I used to brag about how he would never eat human food, and i could leave him, and an open sandwich on my center console in my car for hours and he wouldnt touch it.
Fast forward 2 years nightly cleanup duty under my toddler's high chair and my dog now countersurfs and scarfs down left out food as soon as we look away. Fuck. Dog cleanup is both a blessing and a curse.

Stoke post:
Bought an older kid's Indy sled from a buddy and gave it to my 8y/o for Xmas. We went on a family ride today (4y/o rode on Mom's sled) and stoke was very, very high.

Great kid stoke photos gang, thanks for sharing.
Busted out the Chariot and took the little to the nordic center. It was probably 50/50 successful. She popped out her first tooth this week, so a normally not-so-fussy has turned into cry and the top of my lungs inside the lodge. She got some tomato bisque which helped dry the tears. She seemed kinda cold even in her snow suit with the cover on the sled. She cried on and off, mostly when I stopped, then if I took her out she would smile and laugh. We'll definitely be skiing more, but probably mostly warmer high pressure days until she gets a little bigger.
tgapp - I wanna be friends, but I'm definitely not going to be helpful with suppressing the baby fever. I was the most nervous expecting father ever and now I'm a total fatherhood convert. I stay at home with mine 4 days a week and we have a blast. So far...
FWIW, i dont own any less skis, i just own less new skis. Same with bikes... i dont own any less bikes, i just dont own any new bikes. Basically everything becomes a calculation of where would i rather spend my resources (time, money, energy)... and it usually ends up being my kid and family these days.

How old is the little miss? The tooth thing is bad timing, they seem to hate everything when the first few pop out. Bet otherwise she'd be psyched.
I have a chariot as well but I think I'm gonna hold off on skating with it and for now will be sticking to touring gear. Getting it moving is tough and I think I'm too shitty a nordork to be able to stay upright with the weight behind me. Much easier with supportive boots, and we have enough mellow terrain around SLC for a mean workout on the up and a reasonable ski down. Buddy of mine skied a lot with his kid in the chariot, including some terrain most consider worthy without towing a sled, and he said the secret is to really loosen the hip belt so you can pivot 90 degrees to really put the brakes on without sending the chariot in orbit. Will report back when I give it a try.
Our babe just transitioned from the chest carrier to the backpack. After a summer of hiking she has really good neck control so I figured it was time go to skiing. It was really cold so we bundled her up like crazy and she did really well skinning up in the sun. Managing hat and sunglasses is a pain when you can't see her face, I need to rig a rear-view mirror on top of my pole or something. We took the groomer back down after swapping head cover, turns out she was too hot and had gotten slightly damp around the neck (fountain-style drooling doesn't help). We wrapped her head into a buff and shredded the groomers back down, 4pm in the shade was a bit chilly but she loved it, squealed the whole way down. She looked like a candied apple when we hit the car, cheeks red and shiny.
Tgapp, you know how much I love fucking around outside and generally being a degen. I'll very much echo lowsparkco's comment about being a super nervous father-to-be (as in anxiety attacks over the upcoming changes to my beloved lifestyle), and now being 100% sold on the life. Sure, I'll miss the days when I could leave the house at 4:30am and get back at 8pm after a huge touring mission, and I probably won't be spending entire summers building trails in upper BCC. I rode less than 1/2 my usual mileage this year, I'm in the worst shape I've ever been, and I expect it's not gonna improve for a while.
But I have to tell you, that first ski day with the kid, just skinning up the summer road and riding 400' of groomers at low speed, watching her discover winter, smile about it, giggle and squeal despite the cold, the thought of introducing her to something that has been the most important thing in my life for over 40 years, something she'll hopefully grow to love as much as I do, that was as powerful as any of my best days on snow. And I've had some that left me feeling like I was going to burst from the intensity of the experience.

I remember once I put the kid in the backpack and went XC skiing. At some point I went down a hill too fast and fell off the trail into really deep snow. I was wallowing around with those sticks on my feet and the kid on my back and I wasn't sure I was ever going to get out of there.
We used a "kindershuttle" which is similar functionally to a Chariot, but better for "backcountry" xc skiing. A little more drag on wide, well groomed trails, but more stable for bumpier non-groomed stuff. She was always pretty damn warm in there, with blankets and whatnot. She never really "liked" it, she would complain getting in, but once we started moving she was happy. And would fall asleep in it pretty quickly with the rhythmic movement.

@Boissal. check a snowmobile dealer for a wrist-mount mirror ( you wear it like a watch, Over whatever clothing/ long cuffed handwear you are wearing ) -

We had our kids out for a very short skin on a cold day. Two kids (1 and 2 yrs old) in the Chariot, so about 100 pounds to pull. We were nervous about the kids getting cold, and the younger one starts fussing pretty hard. We pull a super quick transition, I take the Chariot as soon as we start to run out of pitch as I'm the faster skier... and he stops fussing. I totally run out of pitch, have to work to keep moving, more fussing. Get going again, all good.
Stop at the bottom? Yup, more fussing. Kid wasn't cold, he just wanted to go faster.
I did my fair share of wrong raising my child. That’s why I love this thread and watching you great dads doing it better. Never stop what you’re doing, it’s the best ever.
Boissal - mine’s 7.5 months or so. Good tip on the loose hip belt. I just mounted up a pair of scales BC skis for the same reason. Skinny skis are scary enough without a bowling ball in a carriage pushing you. Same same, fitness is all time low. Joy and quality of life all time high. I kept telling myself she could be fussing at home just as easily. Dang teeth.
Funny, she wants to eat everything. She stares at you like a hungry dog while you eat. My mom and I were chomping potato chips telling her how she needs teeth to eat them. Low and behold, later that day, first tooth!
We were handed down both a Kindershuttle and double chariot for the twins. We’ve mostly used the Chariot for Nordic and hut trips. I’ve always put a cheap fleece blanket underneath them and layer some old down jackets on top. Past 2y/o we haven’t been as worried about buckling them in on snow and that helps with layering.
Last March we skied into a hut and the Chariot was probably 120-130+ lbs. Not ideal but I think it drags better than the sled at that weight. Definetly skis down better.
Last weekend transpired into another 100+ lbs load at one point…
