Yeah, taller than Skorpius 2. I know the 2 got a bit taller than the 1, but it's still no quite there for me. I'm a 28.5, HIP is 30, sensitive to instep pressure.

I have the Skorpius 2 28.5 with a Pro Tour LV with the tongue smashed as flat as I can get it. Haven't tried an instep stretch, but don't think I'll be able to get enough out of that. I love this boot except for the instep.

Basically, a Skorpius with a taller instep would be great. Ridge Pro is too low. Want better touring than ZGTP. F1 has too much fwd lean. Backland XTD Carbon 120 maybe? The pivot issues and leaky gaiter makes me hesitant on these. Sounds like the latest ZGTP tours better than before, maybe I should be more open to this boot.
Try the Head Crux. Scarpa Quattro might be worth looking at but its a lot heavier. Backland XTD is not higher than the Ridge and Skorpius if I remember right, I tried it on once a year ago.

Is the 2 really higher than the original Skorp? I have a ton of mileage on the original but haven't tried the 2 on, but the original is tall enough for my purposes, and it is taller than everything else in its class. Have you tried grinding down the boot board?

I'd like to try the Crux on. I think the Quattro has a pretty low instep. I skied the Quattro briefly last spring, thought it was a lot more snug than the Maestrale, especially in the instep.

I never tried the original Skorp, but thought I read in the Skorp thread that gen 2 supposedly got a little higher instep. Have not tried grinding the boot board. It's not the removeable type, but one of those rubbery stick on types. Might have to try and peel it out of the shell, or remove some of it in place. Has anyone messed with the Skorp boot board?

Sorry I misunderstood I thought you were talking about cuff height not instep height. The Head Crux shell is completely open at the instep so it is worth trying. The Backland XTD also has a high instep. I talked to someone a few years ago who had success grinding the original Skorpius boot board, not sure if it has changed in the newer version.
