I got no idea what a Rao even is but Jaques Pepin has been cooking for > 7 decades, he has had restaurants & cooking shows, he was an author , he started in the bidness pre refrigeration in Paris so as a teen they had to wander thru the market and buy fresh every day but he sez it sucked and a fridge made life easier, he also sez don't waste yer time making ketchup, what you gona put in there to make it amazing ... probably sugar

Stringent food rules for for insufferable cunts. Woodsy, MTM, Skidog, coreshot - they all fit the bill.

I don’t doubt Pepin’s accomplishments or tastes, and I agree when he says you don’t need to make your own ketchup… assuming that ketchup is an ingredient to a larger dish. Which it sounds like is his point.

But as a stand alone condiment, the idea that you can’t make something better than bottled ketchup is absurd.

I don’t use ketchup for any dish. A dip, yea, but I don’t think I have a recipe in my roster, aside from bbq sauce, that includes ketchup.

But— I can easily see making MTM’s ketchup as a dip for my country fries. That, a ranch, a mustard dip, a tartar sauce… and I can entertain my three kids for a solid two hours with ten potatoes having been wedged and baked.

Hot crinkle cuts with salt and big brand ketchup. Yum.

I don’t really do ketchup normally, but whatever they have over here in Europe is f-in delicious. I put on fries, toasties, whatever.

I will do the dip in mayo, then ketchup to make a pseudo fry sauce also

    yeah see thats the thing

I don't want to spend a few years of wasting food to dial something in

so when Jaques sez a couple squirts of Ketchup and a squirt of hot sauce thats good enough

thats why we let someone else develop the recipe and call er good

and according to Vincent they put mayo on the frys

I think Portland ketchup is pretty good and a good deal at Costco. I'm certainly not going to waste time making my own ketchup.

I also advocate bringing back the "catsup" spelling.

Miss Mayhem snuck into my room when I got up to take a piss at 5:15. Then she proceeded to howl to get back out until my wife got up and hucked her out. Catsup.

Me too. Lived nearby for part of my time there. Some of the cheapest groceries in town.

I was just passing through this summer and was on 19th due to an emergency vet visit, and damn has it changed so much in the list couple decades. I'm still amazed though by the random vacant lots/biz on main st, west of 7th, seems like prime real estate.

Couldn't not buy this. It's pretty outstanding, I don't think I've eaten another cheese that was aged anywhere close to this long.

I got in and out today spending under $22. Not counting fill the tank with gas.

Went in specifically for this laundry detergent. Have been using it for a few years. It's one of the biggest bargains they sell, works out to be 10¢ per load.

Also picked up a pair of very nice OXO Softworks nonstick pans for $25, that was almost unbelievable. These OXO pans win ATK/Cooks tests every time.

Damn it. I was just at Costco in Sandy the other day and now I have to go back to get that 7 year tillamook cheese, especially since I know a lot of dairy farmers who are part of the tillamook co-op.

I just want to walk down those wonderful isles. Everything at Costco is better than everything in rural VA.

I couldn’t find it in three different Costcos several days ago. So sad.
