How does one put a fired employee $9000 closer to death? Waterboarding?

Thanks but I was asking the Home Depot employee for his expertise.

Just don’t ever go to Ziegler’s.

Copper scrub pads unraveled. Make a "fence" around your crop.

Lady comes up frantic. "I need you to show me how to build a deck, now. The insurance agent says I need a deck off my sliding glass door or I cant get a policy."
Me: Do you own a hammer and a saw?
    She: Nope
Me: Lets get you a hammer and a saw then we'll start by making a bird house

Then I told her to screw a couple of 1x6's across the opening and take them off when the agent left.

My bestHD shit show was when I got charged for two $80 items instead of 1 . I notice right as I get my receipt but it’s “too late”, and I have to go to customer service now. CS has a line 80 filing with 2 people working and one being monopolized by some old dude insisting on returning something with no receipt. The clerks mistake cost me almost an hour.

I prefer the two local Lowes over the 4 HD's, other than the lumber. For lumber they both suck but they've crushed the local lumberyards so there isn't much choice.

In lumber country that wet lumber is what's called pond kiln.

Fuck Home Depot. I'm on a never-ending remodel and it's close to me. I know the place inside out. But if I do have to ask about something, my question always starts with, "Is there anybody here who knows anything?"

The other day I try to buy a sander at hd and none of the guys know jack shit and nobody has keys for the cabinet. I walk and go to Lowe's. Chick in the tool department at Lowe's knows all the product, takes me to the sandpaper to make sure I got it and is fukking awesome. Duh.

The CEO/founder (huge Trump supporter, of course) was cited as saying something like he could never start a company like Home Depot in today's regulatory environment.

    Yeah. That's the point.

I go to HD looking to find an O ring for a small engine carburetor. And mainly to get out of the house, I'm retired. After looking at the selection in faucet repair I ask a kid if there might be some in another dept. He say's "I don't know." Me: Follow me kid and lets find someone who does know and then the next time you'll know."

    These three started Home Depot

Arthur Blank owner of the Atlanta Falcons, Dem supporter. in 2020 Blank Foundation gave $200 million to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Hospital. Pledged to give at least 50% of his wealth to charitable causes.

Ken Langone, Rep. Founded a charter school in Harlem the Promise Academy. . Provided $100 million and arm twisted other wealthy philanthropists to provide free tuition to all NYU Medical school students. Gave $200 million to New York University's Elaine & Kenneth G Langone Medical Center. Has joined Bill Gates & Warren Buffet's Giving Pledge to donate half their net worth.

Bernie Marcus, Rep, Has committed to give 90% of his $5.9 billion fortune to charity.

None are still involved with HD. HD took a big dump when they named Bob Nardelli as CEO. Former GE Exec who was let go when he was passed over for CEO of GE. As bad as Nardelli was at HD and then Chrysler he would have been better than Jeffrey Immelt.

I've generally been pretty happy with my Home Depot, though the lumber does suck as everyone's pointed out. Fortunately in Portland we have Mr. Plywood just down the road from HD, which is 100x better.

However, a few summers ago I was putting together drip irrigation for the flowerbeds and went to HD. They had a well thought out display showing all the components needed to connect to your hose bib, how they look assembled, and their locations in the store. I went back to set up a different part of the yard a few weeks later and the display was gone. I asked why and the floor staff said "management told us to get rid of it because it was against policy." WTF.

Went back and showed them that the 3/8" was obviously mis-striped (the stamp said 3/8 and it measured 3 fucking 8ths), and argued with the guy until he finally agreed to fork the 3/8 stack so I could get a true 1/4 sheet from the stack below. He and a woman then agreed I was wrong, removed the strips separating the two stacks and piled the 3/8 on top of the 1/4.
Its actually 11/32 plywood, but in reality 11/32 is produced as 8.5mm plywood (which is actually 21/64th). But that's a different thread.

2 trips to Depot today. Sucks when you're high and you fuck up a cut. Being the total hack that I am already I'm actually surprised it was only 2 trips.

Said to my wife before trip one as I put on my jacket. Reached in pocket....home depot receipt. Seems these last few weeks I nearly live there. At least 1 trip a week. Trying to button up projects and invent new ones to hone my skills from hack, to at least acceptable.
I actually did my first good mitre cuts today to trim out a project i did. Barely need any caulk and I only had to go back and trim 2 boards.
Now my jigsaw skills? Well they need work. Next time less weed.
