Outdoor Research Ubertube essential lightweight has been perfect for me, 8 days in. One storm day, it did get waterlogged, but still no fogging. https://www.outdoorresearch.com/us/p...49?cat=419,224
Pretty sure there's a whole thread somewhere?
The answer seems to be yes, no, or maybe:

I need to go to Utah.
Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?
So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....
Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

Does the OR ubertube need the filters to be worth a damn? Or does it have a couple of layers/isn't see through and can be used just fine (ie is worth wearing) without filters?

Just got a couple ubertubes in the mail today, looks like a decent setup for stealing fresh tracks like a boss
Seirus magnetic neoprene mask seems to work pretty good. It has structure and air holes to vent properly.
Needs to be tight around the nose. Either with a piece of malleable metal in there, tape, or form fitting.
Medical professionals have been wearing safety glasses and surgical masks for decades and have figured it out.

The risk of contracting COVID while outside in an open environment while maintaining social distancing is low. It's transmitted via water droplets, and when you're outside the air flow is much higher than you would indoors. Unless someone is COVID positive and breathing right in your face, I doubt you would contract it.

Anyway, back to the task at hand.
My review of the Blackstrap Hood balaclava from the thread in S/S
The Hood balaclava is not fit for purpose as a lift line mask. When worn over the nose, excess moisture from exhaling gets trapped in the fabric and then wicks to the cape of the balaclava. Result - after a couple of hours you are skiing around with a thin damp cloth around your neck.
I’ve tried layering it several ways, from underneath the base layer to over the top of a vest. Result is the same - too much moisture trapped by the fabric, and your neck and shoulders end up clammy.
I wanted to like this mask - Blackstrap is local and do good stuff in the community. But, as the Blackstrap CSR told me, it’s not designed to be worn over the nose. And I’m not gonna fuck around trying to pull the thing over the nose with less-than-dexterous-as-fuck gloves while coming into the lift maze.
On a positive note, goggles do not fog when worn over the balaclava.
Maybe their Expedition Hood works better. Although another maggot has this one and sez it traps a lot of moisture too...
I’ve got an OR mask coming - will see how that works
