Army/Air Force is the other route is the other route to getting hours in on the cheap. C5's are in the local flight pattern here and are some massive beasts
I've concluded that DJSapp was never DJSapp, and Not DJSapp is also not DJSapp, so that means he's telling the truth now and he was lying before.

I saw a lot of great STOL action in my wildfire years in AK. I remember this one Pilatus Porter that seemed like it could just stand on its tail wheel on a gravel bar and go straight up. And some crazy landings on marginal strips in Twin Otters.

    That is a cool thing.

Funny I still remember you when you came down to the Tahoe area and skied with us. You were 18!

Army is good if helicopters are the big draw and I think their warrant officer program is a pretty solid way to guarantee a ton of rotary wing flying.

Air Force is a big gamble unless you attend the academy and even then you may ultimately fly a desk for a while.

My understanding is that the Air National Guard is the ticket if aviation is the main draw versus a genuine desire to serve the country. A friend flies for the guard here and the routine is really "show up, fly, go home."

Obviously, none of it is exactly that simple. Surely there's somebody on here with firsthand experience since TGR is, after all, the source of all human knowledge.
