That's a great idea but I just waited two months to get in to see an ENT.

When I'm on my bike trainer I enjoy watching cycling videos that I download. These videos can be upwards of six hours long and the file sizes approach 20 gigs.

My TV's USB input doesn't recognize such large files. I have had success plugging a USB into my Firestick using an OTG cable but it looks like it's max file size is 4 gigs. Hence the reason I'd like to split the video into smaller files.

With VLC I know the method of recording while the video is playing live but that option will literally take hours to perform.

Is there a better way? I've tried a few online tools but they either won't accept such large files or crash when I attempt to upload the video.

Anyone know how to split up massive mp4's?

I don't pay for any streaming services. But occasionally I'll pull up pirate streams for events I want to watch. I've had good results running an HDMI cable between my laptop and my TV. If your laptop can handle the large file size this might work.

I think you're right with the HDMI approach.

I'm told a program called ffmeg can do this but I can't even figure out how to get it running lol.

Huh, no edit.. (Should have mentioned - Yeah, streaming would be ideal but the wifi in this spot is brutal so download onto a USB stick is my sop)

If you were offered 5mill to never post/comment/react on the internet again (and no proxies) would you take it?

Look up Plex. Easy set up ‘server’ app on PC and a player app on firestick or TV.

$5M? And you can still read news? No question. I'd probably pay that much to have my kids never be able to, and they would assuredly come out ahead.

Lvovsky plex is perfect. I don't understand why the video over wifi works on plex as opposed to streaming from the source, but after a bit a testing this looks really solid. Awesome recommendation, thank you.

$5 Million? Fuck ya. I'd be off the grid in a heartbeat. I'd give a few of you a p.o. box address and we could exchange cat pictures and catnip.

Sure. As long as I could still search and read. Where do I sign up?

Not that I expect my posts are annoying enough that I’d ever get offered 5 mil to stfu. Or are they?

Does using the word disappoint in place of disappointed come from the same linage as needs washed?

On the disappoint vs. disappointed topic, has anyone else noticed lots of people will say "I text him" instead of texted? It's weird.

Different lineage. Needs washed is an old redneck thing. Being disappoint is recent, and probably originates with internet memes.
