First question is how old is it? Could have had issues and Wifi killed due to hardware or the antennas even, or it could maybe just be a setting. Have you done a backup of the configuration before? Maybe try a factory reset and attempt to set it up again. WIfi analyzer to see if you have other signals stepping all over your Wifi could be a problem also- especially the 2.4 Ghz which only has 11 channels and 3 are unique and not overlapping.

Remember years ago when you said "router" the first thing people thought of was a tool to make rounded edges and plunge cuts?

I had a router die the other year. The wifi one, I don't own any woodworking tools. Although I wish I had so I could shred the damned thing when it went down at the most inopportune time.

Do you own a cordless drill? Everyone owns one of those. Get an interesting large hole bit for it. Same effect on the Wi-Fi router.

Yesterday I gave up on the router finally. Today I checked it again for some reason and it's working fine. Beats the shit out of me but hey.

But did you beat the shit out of the router? Sometimes you gotta send a message.

Sometimes it’s your network cable that stops working. I’d try replacing that if it gives you trouble again. I’ve been the home/office hero a couple of times with that move

So many call their Wide Area Network- WAN that gets them to the Internet their Wifi... That is wrong, as wifi just usually gets you to the local router without a cord that has the Internet connection off it. Was the router running hot to the touch? If you plugged a PC or had a PC plugged into the router and that had the Internet work, then it could had been only Wifi (and the broadcast of the wireless signals) from the antenna(s)...

Maybe it was just the provider with a service disruption

No, there's two networks each with their own router running off the same cable with a splitter. One side kept working, the other side stopped and then came back. The side that stopped was broadcasting something - my phone and computer showed a full signal - but when you went on that network there was nothing there. Zero data.

Speedtest showed it was connected to the internet but when you ran it it came back with an up/down of zero/zero. It's a wack setup that evolved, it has needed to be burned down and rebuilt for a while now.

Splitter? You mean a network switch? Or is each router also a modem and you're splitting the coax?

Does it make me a bad person that I’m kinda done with skiing this year? Don’t get me wrong, it was a great season, but I’m kinda ready for warm weather, mountain biking and golf.

No. It makes you normal I think. I did the whole skiing into July thing for years and you kinda miss out on a bunch of shit actually.

Once it's March it better be deep pow or blue bird spring skiing. 1" and overcast today. Fuck skiing in that.

    Yes, yes it does.

Make a pile of all your ski gear and set it ablaze as penance to Ullr.

You are no longer welcome in his realm.

If you do not do this, expect to be buried in an avalanche while skiing a 10 degree slope with just 2" of manmade snow.

Most years I absolutely love spring corn season. A friend and I once made a deal to ski all 31 days of March. And post consolidation hikes for bluebird turns are just so low stress/low effort, high reward.

But this year I feel you. Low snow, plus a ton of bad personal stuff this year had pegged my stoke meter on zero.

Same here and for kinda the same reason. 2024 was not awesome for me in the macro world.

If this was the way to go out, I'd be laughing all the way...

Honestly Dear Leader, I'm already there. Not so much the warm weather but done with turns. Partly because BBI really was a hoot and fairly impossible to top now. But also injury and some imminent losses been weighing on me.
Bailing on village life early and going to recalibrate and visit my 88 yr old Dad. Gotta get my time in with him nowadays.

Hope to connect with you this summer.

Family first for sure. Trust your gut. Speaking for myself I was having a hard time finding my psych after the awesome BBI Euro trip but a couple really good days at Big Sky last week kinda stoked the fire again. Hoping for a good Slaypril.

This is why going to the desert or something like that for a bit in March, say during spring break, is nice, really nice. Just for a break.

Only the golf part makes you a bad person.
