Visa gift card? Multiple or just a single card (we'll probably end up with around $1500)? A physical card or virtual? Some other option?

I want to make things as easy as possible for her and don't want to make it complicated for her to use the money or restrict where she could use it (which is why we decided to just give her money and not a spa day or maid service or store-specific gift card). I'm just trying to make sure I have all the considerations in place.

(yes, just venmo-ing her the money might be easiest but is less "gift-y" so would like to avoid that choice unless everything else is a bad idea)
I just cut cashiers checks and sent them to each of the stoke dreams recipients.

Just cut her a personal check. We’re not talking house/car money. This is ski, bike, guitar, gun, drugs money. Don’t make it too complicated.
    Gift cards charge a fee.
Cashiers checks are a hassle to get from the bank.

Since this is unthreadworthy…. A visa gift card will have a purchase fee, but typically not usage fees. Inactivity fees at 12 months, but whatever. Not a huge fee issue I wouldn’t think.

Personal checks carry with them the burden of cashing them. I’ve received thoughtful checks before that I do not cash because while I appreciate the thought, I don’t want to accept the money. Not so with a cashier’s check. You can make the remitter whoever you want and it’s less personal.
    focus.

I was hoping not to do a check, it seems a little less "gifty" (especially since she doesn't even know we're doing this). But in researching, it looks like it is hard or impossible to get a gift card with a balance as high as we have (one donor just gave $2k, fuck yeah!, so we're probably going to be at $3.5k), so we'd have to buy many cards, with a purchase fee on each (don't mind paying a purchase fee, but paying 7 purchase fees for $500 cards would add up), and that would be annoying for her, to juggle multiple cards.

So unless someone has a better idea, I am likely to just send her a personal check.

Why are all the pure blood patriots on Twitter so scared of DMs? They damn near threaten peoples lives in their bios saying no DMs. Sheep mentality at play here? It’s a phenomenon I don’t understand.

From Medscape--The term herpes is derived from the Greek word “to creep or crawl” and dates back to early Greek civilization, approximately 2000 years ago, in reference to the spreading nature of herpetic skin lesions.
But I bet you knew that.

I should probably post this in the things that make you say "fuck yeah" thread, but the underlying subject matter isn't happy enough. Anyway, we collected $3600 for her, which has me pretty stoked. She has no idea this has been happening. One person donated 2 grand which pushed the total so high (he was telling his mom about our friend, and his mom - a breast cancer survivor herself - said she would match her son's contribution, so he contributed $1k and she matched).

I'll be sending her a personal check once I get her address.

    Yeah that's good stuff Danno.

Buzz: Partiots are afraid of Direct Messages? Or does DM mean something else in your post?

My question: Is anyone else sketched out about giving your name, email and phone to sign up for ChatGPT? I'd like to fuck around with it but I don't want it moving in with me.

Yep direct message. It’s so bizarre that I’m now looking at bios of the maga posters and they ALL seem to have that in there. What kind of DMs were they getting and from whom that they feel they need to tell everyone no DMs?? In some cases it says “no DMs or you will be blocked”. Yo no entiendo.

Send them a DM telling them to stop sending you DMs. They'll think their account has been hacked and get even more paranoid.

I'm programmed this way, Iceman, sorry.

I just asked ChatGTP to answer your question, and it said

"Well, I promise not to sell your contact information to any annoying telemarketers, but I can't make any guarantees about the robot overlords who will inevitably take over the world."

Seems honest. Eventually I'll have ChatGTP posting for me here.

Aftermarket headlight question. My wife’s CR-V has terrible headlights from the factory. We never knew just how bad until I got a new Tacoma with LED headlights.

There are lots of options online, but some seem a little fly by night. I don’t want to blind oncoming drivers, so want good cut off line for low beams, etc. Any specific retailer or brand recommended? Also, seems like lots of kits for HIDs and LEDs where you have to install fuses, controllers, wiring harnesses, etc. That all normal and reliable?

Could you possibly solve the problem with new bulbs? I'd probably at least start there for way less investment/labor and see how much difference it makes.

And are the cover plastic/lenses clear? On some cars (like my 4Runner) those lenses got all cloudy and yellowed and cut the light out considerably. Kits to address this are available. The 3M one is cheap and reasonably effective. Amazing difference to my headlights.

And the trick to these, is make *sure* you clearcoat the lenses after you've refurbished them. The clarity will last MUCH longer if you do this.
