Mean might mean average and average might mean mean, but average doesn't necessarily mean mean (or even man.. sorry, there was pow) just like mean doesn't necessarily mean average. Mean could mean nasty. Which might not mean mean, either, come to that.

Why does the Big 12 have 10 teams and the Big 10 have 14 teams?

If I got the math right--the Pac 12 should have stayed Pac 10. Now they have to redo all those logos a second time.
I think al the conferences should stay at 10 and have relegations every year, like English football.

Well, you'll get your wish in 2024.

At least they have 12 teams...for now.

The Big 10 will have 16 teams.

Yeah, I can't wait to see Washington and Oregon in the B1G.

And for the NCAA to get out of college football and for it to become its own semi-pro thing separate and apart from everything else, save maybe basketball.

I think you'll have to wait a long time. It's an assload of money that football generates for the NCAA. The SEC alone is on track to receive 1 billllllion dollars in revenue from football in the coming years.

Who is the buffalo and why is a guy riding on him?

The buffalo appears to be a generic buffalo. Guy is riding him because it beats walking, I guess?

edit: Apparently I've not been following along closely enough, wtf is going on with PB/GUYONABUFFALO?

Follow up to my previous question: how long before we're all a guy on a buffalo? Is this the TGR version of the Borg?

I was pretty sure branding irons, like with cattle, was going to come up but that’s kind of different.

Not a water buffalo, not a giant blue buffalo (wait, that's one's an ox), not a city in the Upstates, not a crazy insurrectionist spirit animal, just a buffalo. A generic buffalo.
