Nickel Creek and Chris Thile are kind of folky, but shit that guy can move his hands quickly.

I've been looking for some, slower, more fiddle based bluegrass with, but preferably without, vocals. Any suggestions?

The Stanley Bros., "Clinch Mountain Gospel"

Might be a little raw for a neophyte Bluegrass/O Brother type. But it is the real deal, Jack.

Good to see some bluegrass lovers on TGR.

I will send any maggots a free copy of my old bands release "Cabin In The Hills" as i have a bunch lying around.
It features myself on dobro, jon stickley (now with The Biscuit Burners) on guitar, Andy Thorn (now with Larry Keel) on banjo, Robin Davis (now with the Wayword Sons) on mandolin and Travis Book (now with the Stringdusters) on bass. Just shoot me a pm and ill ship you off a copy. I think you can still listen at http://www.brokemountain.com

Also, feel free to check out my new band The Wayword Sons at http://www.waywordsons.com
Its more jammy and folky than straight up bluegrass as we have added a piano. Burle, our bass player writes a lot of tunes for Yonder Mountain String Band and their last studio album featured all tunes by him. The Wayword Sons is a relatively new band and our new album ought to be out sometime this summer.

    Tony Rice.

Also, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band's "Will the Circle be Unbroken" - more than one sequel, but the original is a classic.

    Anders-

Thanks for the disc. I've prolly listened to it ten times by now. You guys have some true creative genius on your hands! I'm stoked to see your new project this year at the Dead On The Creek festival. Thanks for the stoke and keep up the good work!

    Mags:

S_S has offered to keep sending these out to those who request. I suggest you take him up on the offer - you'll be hooked. He also informs me that there are a few recent shows up on archive.org if you are into that stuff.

Rusty...I think maybe you meant the Biscut Burners. They are excellent. I saw them up at Otis this past summer. New girl in front. The original hot chick in front was Shannon Whitworth. Her new solo album is pretty good. Plus she's hot. I have also recently seen and enjoyed the Bruce Hornsby / Ricky Skaggs album. Kentucky Thunder is an absolutely smoking band, Cody kilbly is a STUD!! But I digress...
As per our original request, start with the aforementioned old men and work your way up to YSMB.

Saw Oakhurst not too long ago. Very high energy.

I also have been listening to the XM Bluegrass station when I am going fishing. Check it out. They played some McPeak Brothers yesterday....very nice vocals.
