Intuition Pro tongue Vs power wrap for touring

Anyone have experience with both of these liners. Been using powerwrap's in my touring boots forever and looking to switch it up. Seems the Pro tongue, which Intuition says is as burly as the powerwrap, would give more range of motion. Any thoughts? I searched and was not able to find this comparison. My boots are the dynafit vulcans

    Cheers.

Man, I would say neither are ideal for touring? You can make them work obviously, and if you like the added stiffness on the down, then maybe that’s worth it for you.

But I’ve toured in the Pro Tongue and didn’t love it. I think the Tour Wrap or Pro Tour are both superior in a dedicated touring shell. YMMV of course.

Both liners are among the stiffest Intuition makes. Approximately the Luxury adds 5 pts over the stock Dynafit liner. The Tour Wrap adds another 5 pts on top of that. Both ProTongue and Power Wrap add yet another 5pts extra.

If you tour by shuffling along and taking small steps then the ProTongue and Power Wrap's attributes of restricting stride won't matter to you

    Lee,

I have used the powerwraps in my touring boots for 12 years and have decided that I want a tongue liner. It has come down to the PRO tongue or the Pro tour with stiffest tongue. Downhill performance is really important to me. My boots are vulcans with powerwraps currently. Would downhill perormance drop significantly if I go pro tour with stiff tongue? Safe bet seems to be Pro tongue...

Oh yes. It's like touring with all your buckles done up tight. The ProTongue is really stiff

I think it depends on what/where you’re skiing. I’ve done some of my bigger days in Powerwraps when I need the stiffness for what I’m planning to ski and the skis I’m skiing. The first 1/4mi sucks getting used to lack of range of motion but I’ve quickly forgotten about it.

I also have a pro tour tongue and skis like garbage compared to the power wrap but worth it if you plan on doing big days with a light ski. Like touring in the powerwrap, after a few turns you get used to skiing a much softer boot and forget about.

If you need/want a stiff liner, I feel like the wrap liners are more comfortable

I’ve tried various Intuition models over the years, much prefer the wrap style, and find the standard Alpine works for both big days of walking and performance skiing. Swapping back and forth (with Pro-Tours with an oversized tongue), the wrap liners feel more plush and supportive when pushing into the front of my boots, and the wrap liners are actually more comfortable when walking because I don’t have an unsecured tongue migrating into awkward positions.

It goes without saying that wrap vs tongue is foot and personal preference. Especially with instep buckles (eg Scarpa, Dalbello) and grinding shinbones many people prefer wraps.

I've used Tour Wrap for almost 2 years now and it's worth a look imo as a decent liner to do it all. Only downside is that Intuition was perennially out of stock on the. This may have changed though

I love my tour wrap and use dalbello ax. ROM is fine and downhill is great. That works for me. Can’t comment on toungues other than I never liked them and have used wrap.

I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

If you really don't want to go to tour wraps, make your own Power Wrap Tours. There are pics on TGR somewhere where someone did this. They cut out a crescent shape and stitched some Spenco there. Alternatively you could slice the outer cover. grind a crescent to reduce the thick Eva leaving about 3/16 thickness and glue the cover back on. I did the to a pair o Alpine wraps and was happy with the improvement. Still not was good as a Tour Wrap though.

late to the thread due to computer issues, I have a high instep/ narrow heel & ankle/ wide forefoot, also used the Mercury and now the Vulcan with a 15mm shell fit ( thickness of a sharpie) behind the heel that fits awesume

back in the day I went to the Intuition factory outlet in Vangroovy to be fitted by Crystal ( 13yrs experiance at that time, simply zee best !) with a tongued liner, in the store everything feels good but wear them for a couple hrs in the extreme conditions of mom's condo and they hurt the top of my foot ( metetarsal/medial cuniform ) so i went back and got the powerwraps which was very smart, Crystal at Intuition was great and swapped to powerwraps no problem

A lot of people had problems getting a good fit in the Vulcan/ Mercury, they were tight over the instep also the stock liner was such a POS, IMO you might also have problems also with a tongued liner I know for sure I did, in any case with the power wrap the boot tours very well if you take out the tongue

YMMV but I can't wear any liner with a tongue due to my high instep, I feel comfortable making the blanket statement that a wrap liner will work with any foot or boot, but a tongued liner might not

When I went from Mercury to Vulcan I just swapped liners cuz they were suposed to be the same boot shell, they were almost the same but i ended up going back to get them remolded cuz the Vulcans were just a hair smaller
