Snow has really settled and stabilized, brush that was buried ten days ago is now sticking up 4 feet. Shaded slopes are offering a w mix of windblown new and surface faceting (classic loud powder) that is skiing nicely and now the menu is featuring tight rocky places that you wouldn't dare touch a few weeks ago due to the risk of a slide taking you thru the cheese grater. The menu is always changing...it's the same place with different offerings.

Conditions were Prime Rib and Cheesecake for weeks. Now it's more like Shepherd's pie and Pop tarts.

Skied some slow laps with mag lindenle today. We were in Granny gear. Low viz for some dust on crust with a slight case of green goggles to start made for a short day.
    Better up there this evening...

Nope that's a snapshot from the jhmr webcam site. click on roundshot for the summit. Play with the stuff on the right. It's pretty amazing. Try the open book thing where you can combine a shot from now vs any prior one.

Been a long time since I was a night creature. But probably 50+ nights. And I was 25 yrs. old driving the box.
Lotsa wasted nights at the summit. Drinking, smoking, tripping, fireworks, sunsets over Spudrovia, golf balls into Tensleep, midnight on the deck under a gazillion stars in a bag w/ a redheaded gal, gale force winds en route to the shitters under the tramdock, dancing in the tram; and breaking the box's north doors at the Saturday night Riot before closing 1992, dosed and banging around to the Surfers...

Low tide for sure but Low avi danger means teeing up some spicy lines so it all works out. Low line count is nice but understandable.

This is about the time of year when you start to realize that like every ski season things will eventually come to an end. I start to think about lines I want to ski and people I have not gotten out enough with this year. There is still lots of time left but in truth there never really is enough time in a ski season for junkies like us. Jam in as much as you can now because there will be a day in Sept that you will wish that you could have bottled one of this seasons days...so you could pull the cork and take a sip.

On further reflection it is also the time of year that google lenses that a person wouldn't even put in rotation in December are now your daily drivers.

Still not sure how to embed a video, though here's another little dreamy (to me, at least) one I made.

Sounds like Utah about to get buried while we watch it sail by to the south. Enjoy.

Was surprised at how good conditions were on the spud side yesterday. Good luck to anybody getting after it on big lines today, north facing could be great!

I've still got the ice axe I found on the death canyon egress from last Sunday (7th) that I'd like to get back to its owner. PM to claim.
