How would you repair this topsheet/edge damage?

Topsheet is peeled back about an inch, exposing weaving, some of which is torn. The edge has a slice from it but is not cut all the way through.

This is on the left ski, inside edge, about 7 inches forward of where my boot toe is. Am using 22Designs Vice telemark bindings.

I don't need or want anything fancy and don't care about cosmetics, but do want to avoid further damage either to myself or the ski.

Suggestions? TIA.

yeah this^^ you can just glue the peeled back piece with 2 part slow set, then I would cover with a piece of plastic bag & try to somehow clamp it, if yer careful the plastic will make for a really nice smoove finish that won't need sanding

Corner cuts like that are pretty common IME and the fix is 2part epoxy, you got a light colored top sheet on that ski but on dark topsheets where the chip is long gone I will color the core with an appropriate felt pen before applying the plastic bag over 2 part epoxy and the hit will be almost invisable

if yer really looking to minimalize damage maybe wait till you run out of dope and then fix yer heels man

Yup, trim away top sheet that’s peeling back, clean, apply epoxy to protect the core, and you should be good.

(Edited - can also epoxy the topsheet back into place if its salvageable - not clear from the pics)

g flex is great epoxy; though most 2-part marine epoxy will work. I like the JB weld 2-part when I have to fill a void as its thicker and easier to shape.

I don't know your actual risk of that cut-up metal edge breaking when you ski on it, but just in case, I would always ski with that cut metal edge on your right foot, so that the weakened metal will never be your inside edge.

I can't do that because the bindings are left/right. If you wear left on right or vice versa your boot heel will stick off the outside edge of the ski by a quarter inch of so.

Bindings are not left right. Skis may be if they are assym. Show picks of bindings to explain your concerns. But yeah gflex epoxy as others have stated and sand. I have numerous skis with epoxy and don’t care how they look and the epoxy is goopy on sidewall in some cases. They ski fine in pow

You don’t have to swap left and right. Just epoxy it and go ski. That’s completely cosmetic until water rot enters the game.

thats why you need the bag of dope for tele cuz other wise you might try to put em on the rong foot

you could still swap bindings on the ski if you really want,

I got 7tms the plates fit the release on either ski so its possible to just click out the plate and swap to the toehr ski

The older 75mm (duck toe) bindings were foot specific, the new NTN (no duck toe) bindings are not. At least non that I'm aware of.

Axl's are R/L, but aren't mounted that way. Switch the binding if need be, simple.

For the avulsed top sheet, try to save it for sure. Slightly heat it to make it more malleable and see if you can dry fit/press it back to where it needs to be. Clean everything up. Use packing tape to mask around repair. Heat ski and wet.out surfaces. Be judicious w/ epoxy because you're going to have to clean epoxy from surrounding area because to follow the contour of your cap you're going to have to use tape as your clamp(it's okay, you're just f/gluing down a topskin, not building a ski). Take 8-10"s of tape(good strong tape) and adhere tape to avulsion in the middle of tape strip and push into place. Then pull one tag end taut and adhere it down. You should still be using pressure to keep avulsion in place. Then do same with other tag end and set somewhere warm to cure. G-flex kicks ass(waxloaf- g-flex 655 is a thickened version of the 650).
