    Snowboard Magazines?

What happened to Snowboard Life? It was the only board magazine I liked because it had a good mix of freeride, backcountry, and freeestyle and I do not even know when it disappeared. I am looking to get a subsciption to something since the mags are starting to role out, but Snowboarder and Transworld are a little to freestyle and add focused. Is there anything that at least has a little bit of freeriding/backcountry in it?

Yeah the last season I had it was 99/00, but I took a year or 2 off after that so I wasn't sure.

as mentioned, subscribe to frqncy for sure. Snowboard mag is another good one, but my fave is frqncy. Its the only zine that isnt a teeny-bopper magazine.

I checked out Frequency and I am definately going to get that one. Are you talking about Snowboarder or is there a mag just called Snowboard? If there is one just called Snowboard where can I get info on it? Does it have a mix of big mountain and freesytle? If you are just talking about Snowboarder, would you say it's better than Transworld? I think I might pick up a few subsciptions this year and then I will know what I like next year. Just trying to decide which ones to get and I know I don't like Transworld.

These guys ROCK. Killer freeride/backcountry photography and stories. Also includes the jib/park scene.

I just got the new issue and it's just amazing. The Powder of the snowboard world.

sold. if it's as good as the surfer's journal, it's probably the only snowboard magazine worth subscribing to.

    Talking I third that

I was just reading Snowboard Journal while I was booting up. There was a story about TGR's own Jeremy Jones winning the comp in Verbier...

"What's fun for Jones makes most riders feel the need to change their pants."

Note: The Jones Boyz learned to ski out East!

I saw Snowboard Journal in the store yesterday, I don't snowboard but I almost bought it. It just had that feel ( maybe it's just August) anyway looked like a good mag.
Move along nothing to see here.

The Snowboard Journral looks like good stuff, but since I just shelled out the $40 Frequency sub, I don't think I can afford another $40 sub for this one. Maybe one of the cheaper ones like Snowboard if I can find out about that one.

You wont be dissapointed- frqncy is such a good rag. The Editor is Jeff Galbraith, of o.g. Snowboarder fame.

Snowboard Mag (www.snowboard-mag.com) is a new zine, can be picked up at most stores, or subscribed to online. I like the content (other than the fashion show vibe), but I think issues are somewhat inconsistant.

Frequncy is sooooo good. As far as the mainstream pubs, I really thing TWS is better than Snowboarder. And the Snowboarders Journal is very decent, too.

    Frequency and SJ are solid.

Frequency was started by Jamie Lynn. The staff are all core OG as Station put it, and they are a very personable bunch when you have need to contact them. They exemplify the rootsy PNW vibe, and if you can get your hands on their movie 'Mountain Fresh,' and can get past the absurdly artsy edit of it, you'll be quite stoked.

There's footage of the comp at www.freecaster.com/sports

Watching the 2nd place finisher billy-goat his way down the face for a few minutes, and then watching Jones bomb the same face in like 30sec (if that)- its just rediculous. I mean, realistically, the rest of the competitors must have been so privately pissed that he showed up (to his first comp in like 10 years) and made them all look like gapers.

Again- he's redonkulous. EC for real.

Thanks for all the info. When does the forst issue of Frequency come out (or is it already out)?

That is some nice footage of Jeremy Jones, but I don't think it showed the 2nd place rider in the clip. Johan Olofsson was always sick too, but I haven't seen anything from him in a while.

I was thumbing thru the latest Trans-World Snowboarding and noticed several major recruiting ads for the US Army and Navy. Congrats to Powder for not selling out to this.

i like Snowboard Journal better than Frequency....just a little bit cleaner look, heavier, glossier paper, more pictures of big mtn riding, better writing and articles

they are all better then the schlock TWS and Snowboarder

I was at the release party for the new mag like 2 weeks ago, there in the process of mailing hte subs out now, so if you ahve a subscription they should be there in a few weeks. This issue is there first ever photobok. I think that you will be VERY STOKED on it.

Excellent, I got the subcription, so I am just waiting. I also picked up the Snowboard (not Snowboarder) sub since it was only $10. I would still like to get the Snowboard Journal, but the first issue is already out and again, it's another $40 dollers for the sub.

and then post this pic of you demonstrating your "technique"

The agreement we had to "keep it secret" and not tell anyone no longer stands.

I just now got my first issue of "Snowboard" and it is the November issue. I just saw the September issue in the store. WTF? I still have not received anything or heard anything from Frequency either??? I was billed for the Snowboard sub on 9/6 and Frequency on 8/23. Maybe that was not soon enough to get the first issue of Snowboard, but Frequency??? Do mags usually go ahead and ship you the previous issues or just ship for a year from date of subscription?
