That chair is the best I've ever seen! I had two pair of 184s and I agree....best ski ever made.
Well done, sir!

This is my 15th pair. I was told I have had over 15% of the 194s
Ever made. I only get one year, out of them, 75-85 days then they usually
Delam
Under the read binding. Almost every pair does the Same. thing. I weigh 215 and ski pretty hard. I know guys in Jackson who get much longer on the ski.
I am not ashamed to admit the MX98 in the 194 beat the shit out of me. Years ago when the ski was introduced we were at A-Basin and Griffin Post was with us. We were at the top of Pali around Mothers Day and it was huge Spring bumps. I was on an MX88 (178 cm) and I forget why but we swapped skis. Having used to have skied Two-oh-whatever slalom skis back in the day I thought what could go wrong. Well everything, this was right after lunch, I was done for the day by the time I got back to The Beach. I loved the ski in the 184, the 194 is a different experience and even more so than the new MX98.
Click. Point. Chute.
The 184 had one sheet of metal. The 194 had two.
The new MX is a noodle. I bought the 189 Mx 98 and it was unskiable
It took me 200+ days to delam by first pair, still have 2 more pairs that see less and less use back east. Plus a spare from my first pair that delamed on under one of my heel pieces. Biggest regret is not buying out Powder 7 when I picked up my second pair.
I can confirm skideeppow skis hard and beats on his skis. He’s one of few people to drop S&S on MX98s if not the only person.

Don't think Utagonian and I ever told the story...
So years ago I bought a pair of nice used 174 2016 MX98's on eBay (if memory serves), and never mounted them due to quiver overlap. Noticed that the serial numbers didn't match, but never thought much of it.
Years later, sold them to Utagonian, who also had a pair of 174's. Turns out his pair also had mismatched serial numbers, and upon taking my pair home he discovered the two pair of twins were finally reunited.
Amazing! What is the chance of that.
Were they the red or cherry tip? The 194 cherry tip kicked my ass, and I love the 194 red tip. I sold my pair of 194 cherry tips on here cause I couldn’t ski them, they were that stiff.

Meant to be.
Thanks for those 1000oaks, I’ve enjoyed them.
The ones with out the red X, the earlier generation of 194s, kicked my ass all over. Most rewarding and most punishing ski I’ve ever been on.
You must have been on the earlier ones. Bummer cause the generation with the red X are peal them from my cold dead hands skis. So so good.

The flex on the 2016's is one of its best features. It is just perfect. Smooth but not numb with great snow feel and the kick from de-cambering that is more subdued than a real GS ski but will still come off the snow in transition if you are making tight turns. The tips are the second best feature. There isn't a bunch of rocker or taper and it is where the variable radius comes into play. They provide a strong connection to what is going on and will pull you into a turn or decrease its radius if pressured but never get caught up or hooky. In powder there is just enough early rise to keep them from diving but they definitely ski "in the snow" rather than on top of it.
I've been thinking of how to describe their personality. They just do exactly what you tell them to do. They will go straight, drift, carve, brush, porpoise, whatever. They don't constantly nag you by seeking the fall line or require that you always be turning. If you need them they always have some power in reserve. I ski the short ones the most because they are so nimble and versatile but will haul the bacon when asked, they still reward good technique but are a bit more forgiving of transgressions than the 194s. Of course the longer ones want to go faster and bigger or mow down whatever is in front of them...which is nice. Like changing to any GS or other long ski, it can take a while before I adjust my focus far enough ahead. For the most part, I think the big ones are great at Snowbird but I ski the shorter ones at Alta or other resorts. They are great as a travel ski too.
Jackson Hogan wrote about them: "Few conditions are as intimidating as bone-flat light, where all terrain features disappear in a miasma of misty grey. Not that this is anyone’s idea of Nirvana, but it happens, and when it does it would be good to be on the MX98. It exudes confidence, a blessing when the pilot has little of his own. ...the MX98 doesn’t care where you aim it. Its tendency is to stay pinned to the planet, rolling over whatever is presented in its path. While one wouldn’t call it agile, neither is it nervous or indecisive. Whether flat or on edge, it’s a ski you can trust, which is of paramount importance when you can’t see squat." which I think about sometimes while skiing flat light on them and he is pretty much on point.
I’ve always said they do exactly what you want, when you want, how you want. To me, the perfect ski.
I used to be crazy about “having the right ski.” Then one day I grabbed them on 2in morning, the top of the tram had more like 8-10in, and they skied perfectly. Younger me would have been pissed, and skied right to my locker to change skis, but I skied them all day and just had a blast.
I wish I could find a pair of 184s for skiing back east this winter. Maybe a pair will fall out of the sky.

Awesome, I'd expect nothing less from you. My pair is finally shot after delaming at the tips so now I'm searching for replacements if you want tp unload an unwrapped pair, I mean you can only ski one pair of skis at a time right?![]()
Bummer the new versions are a noodle, I was debating about trying a pair this winter.
"They don't think it be like it is, but it do."
Hope a maggot got these.

$408 for a mounted pair.
Damn just missed them
The great thing about this ski is that it just plows through snow. I ski this everyday and even when it snows upto 12 inches. It gets deep in the snow but runs so quick. Every other ski I have skied ( besides the 196 bodacious) deflects and bends at the toe piece.
Here is some skiing from last year in Pandoras on aspen (I refuse to call it hero’s )

Was going through my ski stuff and completely forgot I had a pair of 184 MX98s I bought off one of you at some point. One of the 194s is delamed under the heel, the rest are fine. I think I’m set for a while
