One time in band camp I drove up to go skiing with someone I knew from work. We had interacted a bit but not all that much. Making random convo on the road I ask what he thought of the “new” trend of reverse camber skis. He was completely adamant that was physically not possible. “Camber is what holds your edge to the snow, you can’t ski without it”. Not sure what year this was but spats had been out for maybe 2 years. So we gentleman’s bet $5. Two minutes after getting home I send him a web link to a page describing the whole concept. He flakes out on my $5, so I never spoke to him again.

Guess mine are getting mounted for next winters summit. I’m sure we can figure out an early tram. I’d throw down some cash for it.

I think patroller IB has a pair, the ones on the wall in the Hoback tune shop are his I was told. Might be able to make it 8.

Bought them years ago from El Chupacabra on here. I haven't skied them yet and need to change that.

I think a rip down an untracked bowl on a powder day would be a lot of fun.

I know! 133 days at the resort last year, slightly less than that each previous year. I'm going to put some time on them this year.

I paid $200 for mine a decade or so ago, which admittedly was a steal then and only happened with much help from the maggot community.

Not sure the appreciation to 2021, but happy to revisit this thread for the feels and the nostalgia.

Definitely still have mine and ski them 2-3 mornings a year.

    So worth it!!

    I have 3 Spats.

I believe that I have the worlds only Spatula shot ski.

I also still have my spats mounted and ski them at least once a season.

I feel like SFB has some singles in that mess of a gear room. Is one a shotski? Not sure.

But if you want to get serious, check out Tepper's bombski setup.

An ex tgr employee (I think?) and guy I got to know when he was patrolling at Jay. This work is unparalleled IMO

A brother of a friend picked up a pair for free out in Utah. Sold them on Ebay for $1,500. Yes, that is one thousand five hundred dollars. People are stoopid.

Would this be a potential "karma biting you in the ass" scenario?

Ha! I know Tepper and have seen that thing in action. I think it used to be above the bar at the Jay Village Inn before he built that carrying case which I hadn’t seen before. Perhaps a COVID upgrade. He never worked for TGR to my knowledge but still patrols at Jay.

Travel case is WAY pre covid. There were multiple generations and I think this was the final product. And I don't know about employment, but when he came back to the EC mid aughts he had some connections for movie tickets I wouldn't have.

Anyways, great guy and amazing ingenuity!

I know. I think he’s gone through a few design iterations over the years too. I forget how long ago he kicked off the concept. Late 90s not out of the question. Need to send the man a single Spat.
