Nice shots y’all
So what part of the sky is this in (S, W, NW, etc)?
NEK’s shot from last page would have me thinking south if I recognized that spot correctly.
NW

Nice work up in here, mags
BaNosser put up a champ shot in the pic o the day thread, maybe he'll post here, too
Caught a glimpse of it through the binocs last night before it faded into a smoke hazed sky.
Went out last night and got some shots with the 80-200. Never really done any Astro photography, so it was a lot of spray and pray. One of them came out pretty good, 30 sec at 4.5 iso 200, but I ended up with some star trails. My tripod is also woefully undersized for my setup as I needed to aim way high and let it settle into frame, some maybe there was some wind jiggle?
Is there a sweet spot for time to avoid the trails? 30 seconds too long?

I've concluded that DJSapp was never DJSapp, and Not DJSapp is also not DJSapp, so that means he's telling the truth now and he was lying before.
You'll see trails beyond like 8 or 10 seconds.
Let me lock in the system at Warp 2
Push it on into systematic overdrive
You know what to do
Looking fwd to the results...!

So easy to see in the dark lands outside gunny. I was too lazy for pics maybe tonight

Binoculars are essential.
I'll try again on a clearer night.
^ did you know that the strong coastal winds of BC cause the comet's tail to split? Look into it bro
It's just not dark enough or clear enough to see here. If I didn't know exactly where to look last night with binocs I wouldn't have seen it at all. This summer thick air here in the NE sux.
Got out the telescope last night to look at it. It was actually kinda disappointing because at 50-100x power it kind just looked like a blurry star with a tail. Jupiter and Saturn were actually far more interesting.
