The "massive outgas" is coming from our political leaders this year, not the comet.

Had Indian takeout last night so I've been outgassing all morning. If I was in space you'd see comet Timberridge.

At about 10:15 last night. Looks like it gets closest to the horizon on the 24th around 1pm which, and farther left, which should allow me to line it up with Jefferson and zoom in more

Nice shot! What focal length did you use for this?

If I can stay awake past 9:45pm I'm going to try to catch a glimpse of this thing tonight.

I know, we all are. But keep it down. We don't want to scare anyone.

Got some good shots tonight. Here's a Washington State Ferry coming into Edmonds with the comet overhead.

Playing around last night with different exposures. Will practice again and hopefully do a better job with the focus. Shot with my Canon EOS with 18mm-135mm lens. This shot was F5.0 and 15 seconds at about 50mm, ISO 800.

I like the orange to blue fade over the hills.

That's the lens I used, too, and it kind of sucks for this because the focus changes when you zoom the lens.

Agreed. It was very difficult to try and get the focus right. Not an easy task in very low light and trying to use different focal lengths. Will be at it again tonight from my relatives back deck that has awesome views of the Cascades from Awbrey Butte. Going to be clear skies again and low 90's during the day. It was me at some coyotes last night. And several other like minded comet watchers.

It was cloudy last night here, but I hope to get out tonight to try to catch it. Thanks for all the comments on camera settings. I'll be using my Canon 70-200 f4, and it seems like that focal length should be good enough.

Just to poke fun at benny the summit county local, the east wall is completely out of frame behind the camera to the SE. The comet is sorta over widowmaker to the NW.

Yes, I was worried about the focal length too. But you can mess with the ISO settings and exposure times.

That will produce a nice sized image of the comet, but I'd suggest also having something a little wider if you want to get some foreground interest.

I think I'll bring my 50mm f1.8 as well, then.

Well, that's what they said on the ABasin blog, so, go get all snarky with them.
