Was hoping to ride from Buffalo to Albany this summer. Didn't even know that the canal was turning 200.

I'm hoping to get a few long rides along the canal this season. As soon as this sciatica shit fades...

Isn't Sciatica a small city somewhere Upstate between Utica and the Fingerlakes region?

The Deerfield Town Court can go fuck themselves. What a kangaroo court. Only open after 6pm on Monday and Tuesday for traffic court, you can not call and speak to a person unless you already have a case going and they will only respond to things submitted in writing anyway. I got a ticket on a Friday but could not get to the post office the next day to send in the not guilty plea and Monday was more than 48 hours after the ticket was issued so, too late. Now I must go 250 miles on Monday to appear in person to make a plea but they probably won't honor it because it is past the 48 hour period. I will likely also be last in line because I don't have a scheduled date so that makes for a long, tired drive home.

AWD Sienna is great until it isn’t. Think about a cross country trip and getting a flat. Can only go fifty miles. Then you’re stuck in podunk for two or three days waiting for a tire.
Best solution is a plywood platform in back for a real spare tire underneath. Bonus is you get storage space.

Traffic court, mayor's court, whatever you want to call it - legalized extortion and revenue enhancement is all it is. There are tiny burgs with populations under 500 people in Ohio that have police forces kitted out in rambo type shit and palatial estates for courthouses all thanks to this revenue model. Since the state allowed traffic cameras that income has only quadrupled. I am so thankful that model does not exist down here in God's country.

The Upstate saga with DMV and the new rig continues. So I drove 2 hours up to Catskill today to go to the Greene county DMV office cuz it is the closest one that you do not need. An appointment just takes walk-ins. Great, right? Nope. Apparently the dealership forgot a DMV form. So, I couldn't complete the registration/ new title. The other thing the dealer forgot to do was register the temp tag with New York State so I have been driving around with an unregistered vehicle for 3 weeks. LOL. Now I have to wait for the overnight delivery of the DMV form that they forgot so that I can drive 2 hours back there tomorrow to get it done. I have to get it done soon because the unregistered temp tab expires on Monday. I would go to a DMV closer to home but everything is middle of next week or later for appointments. Got to go further Upstate.

Are we having fun yet? Thanks, Upstate

GL, if you're tired of having all that fun with your new Sienna, there's a 5-speed manual Mazda minivan on cars and bids right now that has your name all over it.https://carsandbids.com/auctions/3gn...6-mazda5-sport

Well, if it doesn't bite me later this whole episode will have been worth it. The dipshits at the dealer issued an in-transit temp tag which removes the vehicle from the NY system rather than a dealer temp tag. So I needed a different form that shows it was released, got it and went back to that DMV office this morning. The IT tag is supposed to be for vehicles leaving the state when sales tax will be collected elsewhere so when I went to do it today the system only asked for the license plate transfer fee, no tax! Upstate professionalism and thoroughness like this is ok with me

So wait, the dealer didn't collect sales tax at purchase? That's nice!

I asked for the temp tag so I could register it in my county and keep the sales tax $$ at home. I even said to the woman helping me that because of the appointment hassles her county was getting that bonus and we laughed. Then when the computer said $63.50 she got the greatest look on her face as she laughed out loud and said "you will not believe this..." Now I'm trying to figure out how it can come back at me.

A lot more blue tarps in my neck of the woods lately. Is it possible upstate is spreading?
