The only way people are able to do photos in a post is to use Tapatalk app on a mobile phone or maybe a tablet. It has been discussed a number of times over on the TGR forum problems thread. If you look at the code it mentions: https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com in the image link, and at the bottom of the posting: "Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk"

That should say photos in a post, not past (can't cleanly edit any more either.)

HFS, that’s horrible Twomartinis. Sorry for the deceased and that your kids had to see that.

in other Upstates news, the motherfucking WALL apparently slid, again, today at Holliday Valley.

    Id post a pic but….

Yeah I saw that. Snowmaking induced mini avalanches seem to be a thing now. I think I remember there was one at Sunday River earlier this year and there was the one at Belle a few years ago ad the first one on the Wall before that.

I've completed the entire length of another Interstate. On Tuesday I took I86 to the end in Erie. That western end beyond about Salamanca is the only really wintry part of the entire southern end of The Upstates. The rest is pretty much the same 2-6" aging snowpack. If you're in the area the weed in Salamanca is the cheapest I have ever seen. Good weed for fifty bucks an ounce and better weed for three hundred a pound! Crazy shit. I woulda loaded up but I was headed west and I hear the OH and IN are weird about that shit and sometimes my obliviousness gets in the way and I find myself driving way faster than I should...

Can't speak for IN, but OH is recreational now so no issues there.

The State Toopers on the other hand along the I-80 Turnpike will nail you for 5 over in a 70 and smile about it. I hate driving in that state.

From the Chick Fil A in Erie to the Salamanca exit to Holiday Valley is [/Upstate version of Tim Allen voice] Pure Upstates. Blue tarpitecture, rez gas n smokes shops, the Seneca Casino, Chatauqua, and loads of lake effect snow.

God I miss that shit. On another note, I don't think weed prices have changed much since I was there. Quality is probably way up though. I miss the days that was called the Southern Tier Expressway, the old Rte 17. Man that is one of the classic fall or summer drives in this country.

I did the STE drive in peak fall color several years back when we were up at a friend's lake house on Chautauqua for a wedding. Did a giant loop of Chautauqua along the STE to Salamanca, then up to Ellicottville, on to Lake Erie, then jogged west till we got back to Chautauqua. Roof open with fall sun made for a beautiful drive.

17 and the Taconic are two of the best roads anywhere. Yeah there are a few zones between Binghamton and Corning that are just meh but otherwise it's killer from end to end. I just used the 86 designation because I like ticking off complete lengths of roads and I had already completed NY 17.

M17 is it still snowing up there? The radar has been lit up for days.

You should have grabbed a burger at The Burton in Allegany. WOJ lives upstairs now, so good chance you would see him there.

That is only a very small portion of the STE or I-86/ Rt 17... I number of years back I purchased a vehicle over in Orange County, NY- Wallkill then left from Newburgh and hit Rt 17. All the way 6 hours basically across New York- Binghamton, Corning, Cuba, Olean, Salamanca, and then the rest of what you experienced. It was at a time also that I-86 was in need of major road work. Orange cones on part of it, and then the rest of it really needed fixing of the pot holes and washboard surface...

I always laugh a bit knowing Woj literally said “take this job and shove it, I’m retiring Upstate”. I bet he’s loving it.

Why am I not remembering who WOJ is? 17/86 is really in pretty good shape west of Monticello. The pavement is still terrible around Middletown.
