it's smaller than it most of it's local competitors, but still good sized. not a lotta steeps but definitely fun. empty on the week days and good close parking at the top and bottom.

Yes, Buffalo area business news article states more than 15 trails: "The ski area also began a significant snowmaking investment, upgrading its snowmaking coverage from six trails to 22 for the coming season, according to the Buffalo Business First article."

It was at one time 2 different resorts if I remember- North and South areas now- Kissing Bridge and I believe the Colden Ski resort. Spread out a bit if you look at the trail map.

You’re not missing much. It pales in comparison to Platty.

I went to school in the area and skied there a few times with our ski club. Having only skied in NY (Catskills and Daks), VT and MA till that point, I was pretty underwhelmed and found it odd to see cars driving by as I got off the chairlift. It is the first place I ever snowboarded and provided enough pitch and vert to make that “challenging”.

Mount Peter has route 17A pass by above the lifts. I always found that odd also.

Taughannock Falls State Park. It’s near Ithaca right on the western side of Cayuga. Super easy to get in and out quick if you’re in the area. The trail I walked is only about a mile each way.

I also discovered today that Simple Minds filmed the video to their timeless classic Alive and Kickin’ at North South Lake and Kaaterskill Falls. I can’t believe I never knew that before.

That's what I was gonna say. Cool. I go by there a dozen times a year. I need to slow down and appreciate all these places I usually just roll through.

We spent a night at the campground there on our bike tour this summer. Beautiful place with an overlook where you can watch peregrines fly below you. It’s only a short flat hike to the base of large falls too.

    fact
Actually not a bad deal. Say you want to ski plattekill on weekends and hunter, windham or belleayre midweek, this is cheaper than passes to just two of those mountains.

The only suckage is one per household. Say you’re a couple that likes to ski together. This wouldn’t work (unless you live separately?!?!).

it’s value has gone down over the years. Mostly in response to people abusing the fuck out of it. didn’t used to be a limit per household until the whole household started buying them. didn’t used to be a limit on the number of ski areas you could hit in a day until some jackass brought a dozen friends to hoilday valley and just kept handing his pass back to the next person in line. Didn’t used to be a limit on the total number sold either until that one year when the They sold a shit load of’em, and that caused all kinds of fuckin’ problems. Used to be only 850 and all the ski areas in the state were on the deal, Now it’s 1400 a pass and a quarter or a third of a ski areas are missing.

Things just don’t seem to improve over time much anymore… it sucks getting old.

Do you have literally no friends or family? They could ‘buy’ it for you under their household and then hand it over.
