Upstates or Southern Tier? Just off the Southern Tier Expressway, Rt 17 or I-86? You decide!

Southern Tier man, all the way to the end of Broome County. Some say out to Deposit, I say no.

Back to this chicken riggies DIPA… is it good? hell yes it’s good.

Does it make your bowl of chicken riggies an interstellar experience?

Fuck no, it completely overpowers it like André the Giant beating up cap’n Lou Albano. Chicken riggies deserves a simple red or an Uncle Charlie.

Verdict: Other Half needs to get their shit together in the marketing department. Not going to bother with their riff on garbage plates at 10%abv - everyone know what to get with a plate: a genny and another shot of rumple mintz

Did you know that Capt Lou is a fellow upstate? Yup. He lived right here in Mahopac just a bit north of Rt 6. I used to bump into him at his tire shop and at Stop n Shop.

I paddled the Mongaup river outside of Port Jervis with a buddy a few weekends ago and remember thinking "damn this feels upstate" when were were driving there. I do think that was due to the fall foliage and picturesque scenery along the route; but looking at a map I'm not sure if it's actually upstate.

I think we can consider the xmas tree to be from upstate. northern appalachia for sure, but still technically upstate. feels like it would be more appropriate if it was from the north country, aka, way upstate, but I suppose an in-state tree is still better than an out-of-state tree.

Well, I think we need a ruling from gravity. It is in NY and north and west of the Rt 6/Port Jervis pinch point with PA. I'm inclined to allow it, but what do I know?

Geographicaly Port Jervis is probably not upstate but culturally it has it nailed.

In recent years past the Rockefeller Tree came from such far off lands as Connecticut. And not the New York parts either.

I'd say that tree is sufficiently Upstates.

Port Jervis is Pennsylvania at best, New Jersey at worst. Neither is upstates.

Culturally, you might have a case. Geographically, go check a map and tell me what side of the Delaware it's on. I'm waiting.

The wrong side for Pensy, the right side for Jersey.

    Oops, I meant Upstater.

Port Jervis is a tough call on several levels but the cultural aspect wins and lands it squarely in the Upstate.

Capt. Lou falls under the Paul Teutul Sr. rule and is therefore an upstater.

Cap't Lou falls under the Leapin Lanny Paffo tree and predates those motorcyle guys by a mile.

You're making turns on what appears to be an uncrowded decent slope in sunny 60 degree weather on a November Thursday with a cold IC in hand?

I see nothing wrong with any of this.
