Anyone up around the High Peaks or North Country this morning? Looks like it's snowing pretty good up there. That throws a wrench in my travel plans tomorrow.
Including today 21 of the last 23 weekends have had rain here. I'm at about 33 or 34 inches since 9/4The other side of the state is the polar opposite with near drought conditions in several river basins. There are whole stretches of the Allegheny river that are nearly dry. The break line is around I81 between the have-nots and the have too much. Maybe if it keeps up Thunder Ridge and the new Holiday Mt will finally get the season they need
We had a great time, what a turnout. I think we might have eaten lunch together at the table of six - I was the guy in the red shirt “investing when you are young is like flying a jet, when you are old it should be a tugboat crawling into port”
we showed up late and kinda kept to ourselves; but a great day overall! nice group of people!

Doesn’t ring a bell but glad you had fun
buddy at LBS says porter unlikely at this point. said drowned lands is good at posting their beer releases…
since they’re close to downstate, this brings up another issue:
downstate’s “ironical upstate tribute beer” had better be fkna amazing (quite possible) or else

Question: Do people in Utica drink UC?
Asking because people in MT sure as hell don't drink Montucky Cold Snacks. At least nobody I know.
it’s a pantry staple…. yer breakfast cereals don’t taste quite right without it.
fact.
it’s hip to be square…

fact.
Thanks. Porter spit out on a laptop screen is a mess but that was fukn funny.
I'm doing a lap through the 'daks tomorrow. Starting with the 5 hr run up to Saranac then down to Old Forge, out to Croghan and down to Utica. Who's along the way that wants to stop me for a beer and a smoke? What should I stop to see along the way? Oughta be somewhere near 650 miles by the time I get homeI've never done the drive thru the mts from Saranac to Old Forge, anything special to see along the way? It says 89 miles and a fair bit over 2 hrs, is it all paved?
yeah… yer gonna want ta stop at the crogan meat market. fuckin top knotch meats on holiday sales.
the bologna is the house specialty… you seen it for sale in every janky open top “refrigerator” right next to the river rat cheese curds in every mom and pop type gas ‘em up shops all around the upstates.
used to be cheap, now it’s not. but it is cheaper at the source than it is at the mom& pops.
i do love that shit for teh Sunday morning breakfast. ya dice up the baloney and fry that off to a nice golden brown first and reserve for later, then dice up some onions and shred up some taters…. cook them taters and onions in that bologna fat and some butter. when theys done, salt and pepper ‘em good and throw them bologna chunks back in the mix… top yer serving with a couple a sunny side ups and you got a mouthful of fuckin’ heaven right there… wash that down with a healthy swig of uc and you’ll end up at the door to fuckin’ nirvana…
tell the guys i said hi…
fact.
^^^ Holy fuck
Next time I'm hanging out in lowville I'll head one town over.
Tug fucking hill
finest kind…
I drove from Harrietstown through Old Forge to Utica a few years back. It was all paved.

damn, now I'm hungry that sounds awesome
definitely all paved if you're taking the main highways 3/30/28. Spent a lot of time in that area as a kid but haven't been up that way in a while; the towns of Long Lake and Inlet are pretty cool, small lake towns that have some restaurants/shops, I remember Screamin' Eagle pizza to be pretty good. should be a beauty of a drive for you along the lakes up there, there's a little general store in the "town" of Raquette lake we used to get ice cream and sandwiches at but I imagine they might be closed being off season.
my head is perpetually in the clouds
Raquette River Brewing in Tupper Lake has some decent beer. Kind of a cool setup
