    That was weirdly satisfying.

Why the odor notice. At the same wall as the face mask notice.
I thought face masking trapped viruses and farts?

^^^^Those brand new rest areas on the Thruway are already getting trashed….Would never eat anything from any of them.

Because we are back and forth a lot up to VT…..every time we stop, I am always amazed how disgusting most humans are.

Working with some sort of chemicals or fumes that may be an issue with some of the office people? Face Mask is for dust, germ transmission, etc. unless a gas mask maybe.

Never went there but I remember them doing shootouts in the street of the Wild West themed section of The Great Escape in Lake George (when it was still called Storytown). Hard to picture them doing that nowadays

Or maybe it’s evidence that it takes a hellhole like Guadalcanal circa 1942 to make Utica appealing?

4 weeks at the same spot. Will someone ask the captain what's up? Maybe I'll look into an Airbnb IN the canal for next summer

    Wtf. Helmet for my pillow.
Never heard of it. But want to read it now.

    War is a racket.

Not looking forward to reading. Man is a cruel beast.

Coincidentally I was up in that area yesterday. Snow Ridge is in bad shape but they’re working hard. Hopefully they are ready when the snow starts falling

lapped the hudson valley today with a waterfall destination

    refreshments first

    then off to kaaterskill falls

we were going to hit the direct route from 23A; but my AMC guide book on the catskills & hudson valley is outdated - didn’t know they had closed off all the parking lots and replaced it with the trolley/shuttle system… no patience to figure that shit out on the fly, so we detoured up and around to the Scutt road parking area to try the escarpment trail to the falls from on-high.

a ton of daytrippers were on the trail to the falls, so we bailed to an uphill trail out to the escarpment instead. we all agreed on taking ‘the road less traveled’

    ^ sunset rock
you could see Hunter off in the distance

    ^inspiration point

swung up though Jewitt and over to Winham for dinner (can recommend Mill Rock)

struck out on waterfalls; but Mill Rock had Kaaterskill IPA on tap so a bit of serendipity there. and their lemon sorbet is très bien

Proof that the Southern Tier is Upstate https://patch.com/new-york/pleasantv...all-town-charm

Not so sure I totally agree with this list but it makes Upstate look pretty good.

When you’re touting that you tied West Virginia in a ranking, you’re upstate!

Not only did New York top the rankings, but on the list of 42 small towns, it ties with West Virginia for the most communities on the list.
