Should’ve smelt it back before we redirected them sewer pipes and industrial waste discharges….That was one sweet fucking smell. Late on a summers afternoon. When the wind stops, everything gets good and stagnate with 80° plus on the guage and that fuckin ‘ humidity.

    things were good then.

    fact.

North of NY? Not much, some of Maine and a wee bit of NH. Other than that you need to go west to the UP.
100% nose blind? I'm like 90%. If I can smell something bad, everyone else is doubled over wretching.

It has to be something that makes other people wretch and leave a place. Depending on what it is I'll taste it but it's fleeting.

Well, I think we can at least agree that Syracuse and Utica are part of it, though maybe not cause, you know, people like to disagree

There's no doubt that Syracuse and Utica are CNY. And Buffalo is definitely WNY. Both are subsets of Upstate in my book. I've asked before and I'm asking again, where the fuck is Rochester?

And that map is missing the Sothern Tier and that area is most definitely Upstate AF.

That map is the most official source I have but it doesn’t even acknowledge WNY as a region. Did they rename southern tier Chautauqua/ Allegheny or is that something else?

Since I just looped most of the state to get my kid from Poughkeepsie, I feel qualified to say CNY is west of the Leatherstocking District, east of western NY, north of the southern tier and south of some big lake.

And, MNIAW, the southern tier FEELS upstate as fuck, but I feel like it’s actually a subspecies of pennsyltucky. I mean, wellsville is way more potter county pa than NY

90 and 81 are the crosshairs of NYS, making Syracuse the epicenter of CNY. ADK to the north and leatherstocking to the east are easy boundaries. South is tougher but has to be north of Binghamton, like Whitney Point. East I think it has to end before the big finger lakes. I must be repeating someone from 300+ pages back...

You are slighting other fine locales such as addison, jasper, rathbone and woodhull. Thems not the kind to take it in stride either

Bullseye. Well sorta. I posted the actual center a page or two back. Something like Pratts Hollow in Munnville, I'm too lazy to go back and look for it.

Yeah the Southern Tier is special, especially as you get to the western end. The Pennsyltucky zone stretches up to about 20 miles SW of E Aurora.

I thought the Southern Tier was all the way over south western NY and Central NY. Anywhere I86/Rt 17/ Southern Tier Express Way even past Binghamton- All along the Northern Tier of PA

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_Tier

So Counties include Allegany, Broome, Cattaraugus, Tioga, Chautauqua, Chemung, Delaware, Steuben.

That is the Oldsmobile and the picture above from the Bible Belt Speed Shop is a Buick Regal. Both based on the same body and look very similar, but don't thing the Buick Regal has as big of engine in it?? But obviously both had the Hurst Transmission at least as an option for the muscle cars.

    CNY’s westernmost edge is Shortsville.
    Basically Palmyra.
But the Northern Fingerlakes area gets a little blurry.
