1997 was a wild time.

Did ya break down or something?
PSA: Friday's at Teds will be busy now.

Upstate ice storm makes for some weird skiing. Got a little wet and most of the day we could hear ice falling off trees branches and then sliding down the crust between the trees. Visibility was shit but the snow was soft and heroic. Lots of fun.
Seems like we got about 3 yesterday plus the crust overnight. Hopefully that ends up being a base for some March storms.
The sun tried to break through a few times but didn’t make it. The clouds never lifted more than about halfway up the hill.
All good. Back to work tomorrow and then back up for Saturday.
I've skied in those conditions, solo too. Reminds me of home.
Also, Timber's right. Get your fish fry season mapped proper now while you can.

Yeah, it was wild for sure. If you’re prepared with all waterproof stuff and a few extra pairs of gloves, skiing that shit can be loads of fun. It certainly makes for soft snow.

Every time darling daughter brings up the subject of getting a car while living in the city i send her one of these videos (sound on).

^found the truck driver^
WTF Hannah, now we'll have two trucks double parking and blocking the fucking street.
Hannah is the new Karen.

Well, funneh enough I did spend a month downstate working for a Christmas Tree guy who had multiple locations and a distribution lot. I was on the "shuffle" crew, aka distribution. I got to drive a bunch of pickup trucks and this one monster of a straight body throughout the north Bronx and upper Manhattan, Spanish Harlem at all hours of the night. I can totally relate to the truck driver. Fortunately they wouldn't let me, as the junior guy, anywhere near the F350 dump bed with dual wheels and the 40 foot gooseneck trailer. They had me attempt to back it around the yard to see if they would let me loose on the city and while I can't back a trailer to save my life, I made extra sure to fail the test. No way I wanted to drive that thing.

One thing I've wondered about is the downstater's disconnect with money. Their cost of living is outrageous, yeah, so a downstater will pay $$$ where upstaters might expect $$ or even $. And downstaters visiting upstate, hoo-boy, they can spread the greenbacks...
The thing that gets me though, is the converse where downstaters undervalue things they sell. Almost with a 'I'm done with this, just take it off my hands' attitude.
[allright what's your point twomartinis...]
Case in point - I just picked up this pair of zipfits for the wife for $70 (+ shipping), with the dalbello shells!
seller was a nice lady from Brooklyn. I even mentioned that the shipping seemed high & she requoted it at a lower rate!
What say you - is it just me, am I generalizing?

When I'm done with stuff I'm done and want it gone. If nobody buys it it's gonna get tossed so just sell it cheap and be done with it. I'm a mile south of Rt 6 so that's my downstater reason for undervaluing my shit. It's a false downstate thing though as evidenced by excessive use of outdoor storage and the ubiquitous blue tarp over the lawnmower held down by plastic yard chairs.
