So, this is self-indulgent, but my Dad cast a very long shadow over some circles in New York Academia and the arts in the Upstates (and other places). Thought I would share his obit, he was an amazing dude. He left life as he lived it, with humility, humor, and grace. Absolutely no fear.
I won’t even say Rest In Peace, as he died in peace.

So sorry Rideit. A long, fruitful life to celebrate although the end is rarely easy. Hope that you can hold great memories of him for the rest of your days.

Wow. What a fucking book nerd. God bless people like that. What a life lived. That’s all we can ask for. The knowledge he shared and the lives he touched were immeasurable

RIP. And peace to you and the family.

All good, guys, and thanks for the positive words.
FWIW, he really liked S.U. Basketball (was good friends with Boeheim), Utica Greens, and Luna Pizzas.
    So full circle, carry on!

Sorry for your loss. I’m glad you didn’t say your dad “passed away”. Any other prohibited words not mentioned in the obit?

He once informed his friend, Bill Safire, a conservative essayist and alumnus of SU, that Safire's occasional use of split infinitives was a sign of liberal permissiveness.
I laughed. Hard! Both that he said that and that it is in the obituary.

In general, words were his playground, jungle gym, and battlefield.

Not sure that everyone agrees that Warwick is upstate but I think it is. Nice spot for some night skiing.

I haven’t been back in Albany nearly as much lately so I haven’t been able to resupply on UC lately. This shit was a poor substitute.

A man who corrected Bill Safire on matters of grammar is a badass by definition. Congrats on a life well lived and condolences.

Sorry to hear about your dad. I’m not sure if I ever met him. Did he go to the gym at Archbold? I sat in some meetings with your mom years ago.

Definitely didn’t go to the gym, lol. He was a competitive squash player at John’s Hopkins, but basically barely ever broke a sweat after that…
My mom is a pretty amazing individual as well, with an insane academic bio… She can be a little reserved.

Mountain Creek has its advantages- just a little bit farther away unfortunately.
