Video games to play with my son?

About three hours into the new Zelda - Tears of the Kingdom. Certainly seems like another masterpiece.

Yup. Picked it up this weekend, maybe only 1.5 hours in. It seems like BotW, but somehow with even more open worldness. Like make your own things.

So be ready for this hot action:

Wait, how can we trust this guy^^^ He's clearly not DJSapp

Unravel 1 & 2, Turing Test and AC Origins / Odyssey / Valhalla Discovery Mode are favorites of ours.

My son and I have been playing Zelda for the last 6 weeks or so, but a lot of that was traveling so we were playing a few minutes a day or every few days. We finally made it off the Great Sky Island and into the main part of the game in the last week or so and it's been a lot of fun. We play by basically passing the controller back and forth when one of us has an idea and it's been better than I expected. It feels collaborative in a different way than a two players on screen game. We just took out a Battle Talus that took us several days of short playing sessions to figure out and defeat and it felt like a shared accomplishment. Now we're in a cave facing some sort of ceiling crawling monster and my son is yelling not to Ascend out of there as he wants to figure out a way to beat him.

I have my suspicions we'll ever finish the game, but it's been fun playing with my son and it's so hot here, it's pretty much the ideal time for indoor activities.

I just finished getting all the skyview towers and unlocking the entire surface map. I haven’t really dug into the main story quests yet. Amazing game.

We definitely got better at it as we figured out what actually caused damage. I like the figuring out aspect of the game a lot, particularly because it allows a lot of interaction/discussion between my son and I as we make plans vs. a more button mashing style where you can't exactly discuss things (and which I'm also bad at).

Kids and I have been enjoying the heck out of playing Tears of the Kingdom together lately. It is AMAZING seeing the different solutions they come up with. I was having a tough time figuring out how to get up to a high spot and we saw a rocket lying around. Son asked if we could fuse said rocket to some crappy shield we had in our inventory. Well, sure enough. You bust out the shield and off you go! It is hilarious some of the fuse combos you can actually do. This game REALLY encourages experimentation.
