What a shitshow it's turned into. As far as I can tell we got one extremely mediocre descending trail out of it and one OK climbing trail. Oh and the 1/4 mile beginner loop at Popperton. A few rich assholes who couldn't be bothered to comment in the three years they took them got the whole thing shut down. And they still drive 50mph through Popperton Park next to kids and dogs.
Joe were you still here when they installed a combination locked pedestrian gate next to the vehicle gate so now you can't even get a bike through there and you have to ride the sketchy and steeper bike path. Fuck those people.

OK WE GET IT!!! Hahaha, JK. The forums are glitchy lately.
Yeah like I said, I ride it. It's a nice climb. Plus they made the ridge above Shoreline including the Black Mtn ridge "hike only." I actually got called out by a pedestrian a couple weeks ago. Was news to me, I just kept pedaling. Terror Ridge itself was slated for "Passive Decommissioning" which I think just means 'don't ask don't tell.' I've got half a mind to go up there and finish the climb trail over this winter. Would be really sweet to bring it up to the Black Mtn ridge. Such a waste to leave it up there "resting."

hahaha dammit, i was hoping i deleted them in time for anyone to see them. yea I agree that its a waste and those NIMBYs suck.... I did see that land is for sale on facebook: facebook.com/marketplace/item/6701511829931336/
would be sweet if the SLC govt bought it (could be a fake post too)
Doesn't seem like that can be real to me?

Hell yeah!
After riding Terror and Bobsled a bunch recently, I decided to mix it up with a 19th ave on Thursday. Between the mud and pedaling my ass off the whole way, I was reminded why I only bothered with that trail a few times this year. Something about the lack of consistent pitch and blown out off-camber corners. I don’t care that it’s not chunk filled gnar, but IMO it ranks pretty low compared to other green and blue DH trails.
Shit sure flipped in the last two days.

Yep, that was me. Got a little too carried away in one of the straightlines trying to get enough speed to clear the next climb. Lots of bacon eventually worked but there was not enough sealant to properly seal the thing despite a refill a most a couple months ago. Oh well, the tire was shot anyway, and it forced me to ride down dry creek at medium speed which was actually pretty fun!
That looks delicious, and at least you won't have to worry about rutting the thing with that kind of "soil".
There are so many lines off Shoreline that could become a reality with a bit of work/full on warfare against scrub oak. Bobsled after boblsed after bobsled waiting to be cleaned up. I've walked a few and dragged my bike through a couple but ultimately decided I'd rather do work up high. Not enough time to do it all...

Any SLC folks have a Sram Dub bottom bracket tool? Apparently a BBT-79

I have the RF tool which I think will work?

Does anyone have a frame shipping box that I can grab? Could even use two if they are taking up space

Got the trail finished and cleaned up for the most part...still may need to tweak a few things, and also would like to add some jumps eventually.
Would like to get some tires on this and get it burned in a little before winter shows up...so feel free to ride and tell folks. This is an advanced trail with some techy rock sections and right now there is a waist high drop off an old jeep nothing too crazy.
Start/Park at the end of Scenic dr. climb up an unmarked trail (steep but short) to Cannon Pointe trail, Climb up BST to Weather Station Climb, make a left on Weather Station and the trail starts immediately on your left in the gully. When you get to the BST hang a right then quick left back down into the gully. When you get to the bottom of trail bang a right and climb back up(short) to the parking lot.
Trail conditions are great right now, little bit of snow in gully towards the top but no big deal. Probably about a 20/30 min loop? Good for a few laps. Hopefully will be out there tomorrow afternoon riding. get some before the snow.
The trail is called "Bodybag"
That's hilarious, I hike that area with my dog and thought it would be ripe for a direct chunky pirate trail right where you put yours. Haven't seen that jeep yet.
Damn, I feel honored to be so graciously invited to come ride one of your builds. Good thing I just broke my thumb....
dang ^sorry about yer thumb
Really the credit goes to my buddy who lives down the street for "finding" and starting the trail...His time is limited, but the crew came in strong and knocked er out. Still some work to do shaping berms and building jumps/features.
Could be issues with hikers going up the gully, but with Slip n Slide, Weather Station climb, and Cannon Primitive trail seems that there are plenty of options to keep hikers happy and out of the gully. Some signage may be necessary. The nimby'ism in this area seems to be a bit more chill than the avenues.
Engage rant now:
Hasn't been much DH trail development in the N. SLC foothills over the years and as Boissal said there is a TON of potential for more Bobsled'ish or even Terror ridge types of trails. Lord knows the city and contractors aren't going to build them cause they cant get their damn excavators in there and benchcut the shit outta everything....USE the fricking' terrain and HANDBUILD it!....This trail was constructed literally under 24 hours, for free, and IMO is better than any recent contractor built "DH" benchcut BS in the N. SLC foothills. Not saying every trail needs to be built like this, but also not every trail needs to be a benchcut flow with an excavator.
Encourage people to just get out there and build it...all the classic trails we have and value has been built this way. Everything else is a bureaucratic pussbag of vanilla.
Ha, good rant and a great 24 hour trail. I hiked down it with my dog tonight, I had no time to get my bike shit together, put the bike rack on the car, etc.
So you guys gonna ride this too, where your trail ends? I'm afraid of braking too much on it, and having the rear tire slide off along with me. Bottom transition doesn't look as bad as the pic shows it.

We talked about it ....if it wasnt for the paved path below for sure! but, we plan on fencing that off.... It is the kinda thing that will get the trail shut down....Riding full speed blind down across the bike path and sending a bunch of rocks down onto the paved path is going to piss a lot of people off and IMO not a good idea/safe ..... Although I think riding down on top of the tube would be a sick clip, haha.... IDK hard to stop people doing stuff for the gram....If guess if yer gunna do it have a spotter and clean the rocks off the bike path when yer done. ?
Similar situation to the end of Bobsled where you used to huck the drop out onto 11th ave. ....it was fun but not an ideal setup....and SLC fenced that off recently.
I ate shit next to that pipe on an old school 26er. At like 2mph with sweet 2.2" tires....34psi baby!
Proper rant, and props on getting after it. I’ve been scoping a few potential options in my neck of the woods(Bountiful), but this is just the kick in the ass I needed to get to work while the skiing is still meh.
And if anyone is going to go out and dig, let me know and I’m happy to lend a hand.
