Definitely wait for fall moisture to hit the skidders. The fun factor drops a bit when they're blown out. The window to ride them in good conditions is short, especially now that they're on the map and very popular.
I remember riding them a bunch early season last year then taking 3 months off to recover from a shoulder issue and dropping back in as if things were unchanged. I had a dozen close calls in the first minute and had to reel it in hard.
Granted if you ride them now and have a good time you're in for a treat when you get to ride them in good conditions.

PCMR Skidders are definitely better in Fall than Spring. In Spring the top is still snowy/muddy and bottom dry and blown out already. Now a lot of death slides and close calls. Fall is more consistent after some H2O.

I know some guys who enjoy them in Summer, but for me riding higher up with some real dirt is more betterer.

Yes, they are very skiddy right now. I’m looking forward to some late summer/fall moisture and temps.

All of this talk of skidders and my recent post in the shit that annoys thread has me thinking about pirate trails. Anyone want to dig some trails in a zone up north? Tons of room, not many people…..

Made my way into Days last night. Only made it about ~3miles in before I was flirting with sunset, so didn't get to the final climb. Good news is, not very dusty. Bad news is, climb still sucks. Also, I was glad I brought gloves - some sections are a little overgrown, as expected.

Twin Lakes pass last night. Apocalyptic views down in the valley:

Catherine's still a bitch of a climb but one glorious downhill. Things feel incredibly dry right now, some legendary drifting to be had.

The mine tailings in silver fork and the chunder section before the exposed super mandatory right hand turn definitely felt all time slide for life last week! Should feel downright easy after the next rain (in October?)

I'll 2nd this. I was telling my son on the way down tonight how many people would kill to be able to ride stuff like this after work, and he said 'Then how come we don't see anyone else when we ride it?'
    Got me..

@phall - going up Peruvian or baby thunder to big mtn are pretty much the only options rn. If I’m going to hidden peak, I’ll take pdog. It’s obviously not that easy; but not that bad either. If I’m only going up part of the way, I’ll go up big mtn.

pDog. I park on on the bypass road and start on Blackjack to make it a little quicker. Gad was closed when we crossed Bass Highway, so there isn't much point parking lower anyways right now.

I'm headed up BCc to ride after work today, and want to try to ride some Brighton stuff, but [emoji17] have never ridden there before. I've poked around heat maps this morning a bit, but unsure of the right spot to climb.
Any tips for a directionally challenged dood?
Anyone want to go up there after work today?
Edit, I think I figured it out. Got a route planned.

If you're going to the top P-gulch is the way (via Bypass and Blackjack). It's steep but mostly not that bad, and the directness makes it *way* faster. Going to that way I can literally be up and down in the time in the time it would take just to climb BMT.

Also, just a general rant not specifically directed at you, people who insist on climbing BMT and don't yield to downhill traffic can fuck right off.

They are having a trail race at Brighton tonight with ~400 people, might want to reschedule...

Guardsman is closed for a couple weeks for paving, FYI. It says it's closed at the top from the PC side, but it's actually closed lower than that at the Blood Lake parking lot, those liars.

Edit: they will have it open Fri-Sundays. so it's only closed Mon-Thursdays

I swear I tried to search before asking this because I suspect it's been asked and answered a bunch, but I think I just suck at the internet - anyway what's the consensus on where to get a fork serviced in SLC? Thanks mucho!

it’s definately longer and more vert, since you drop a ways down mineral before climbing back up and out.

with that said, doing the almighty (up and over baldy from germania) is worth doing at some point. It’s not a “gotta ride it every time” kind of thing, but worth doing once or twice a season. Of note, some sketch HAB up from baldy express.

Cranky's Bike Shop is closing down. I believe this is day one or two, so everything is 30% off for starters. Anyways the shop has as good stock for parts and exercises and probably way to many bikes. If you need something now or possibly something that doesn't go on sale often, Shimano or whatever then have at it.
