WTB: Rossignol S3 186cm (Minty please)

You: Too core to ski these wimpy skis that you grabbed while drinking/smoking and internet shopping.

Me: Not core at all and really like these wimpy skis for tree skiing on the East Coast.

If you've got a pair kicking around that aren't getting any use, drop me a line and I'll make sure they have a good home. Don't need bindings but if the deal is right, I'll take what you have.

There are so many better options now than an S3 for your intended use case (I used to own the exact skis you seek...sold them a long time ago...no regrets).

Not that they would be easier to find but I didn't like the S3 and I really like the Salomon Rocker2 100 for the use you describe.

To each his/her own or YMMV. I've owned a pair of S3s for years and they are great for me. I'm sure there are other skis that are great but tried and true are important if I can't demo. And Praxis RX are too spendy for my limited budget.

TrueNorth is going to hook me up with a BNIP pair.

That ski was last made when...2013? Only SEVEN seasons of new gear to pick from. Enjoy those mediocre, funky rockered S5’s.

My disappointment is that you have nearly 2,000 posts in this forum and will not do the homework to take advantage of the newer designs and refinements since the S3 was on the market. Look at any manufacturer’s 95-100-mm waist all-Mtn ski without metal in it and you find a better all around ski.

Sure, the S3 was a fun and interesting ski in its day, but all Rossi did was put crazy tip rocker and a bit of tail rocker on the Scratch BC/S5. The only thing it did better than the S5 was float in powder at a slower speed. The rocker acted like a brake and the reduced effective edge limited the skis all-Mtn chops.

I dare you to move on and see what you are missing out on.

Everybody has their preferences. The Volkl Explosiv was last made in 2005, and I sold my last pair of 190s a couple years ago - but now I kinda wish I had them still.

Listen to Blister Gear:30 podcast on skis of the decade. Interesting that they answer lots of questions from people who love a certain ski that is no longer available and want to find a replacement. Katana Metal, Rossi Sickle and S3. Bibby.
If you find the S3 great!

I ride an S3 as my daily driver, and I love it. So I'm with the OP.

I often find when people say something is a "better XXX", what they mean is "I didn't like XXX that much, and found that YYY was more to my tastes in the same class of ski". It doesn't mean "like you, I LOVED the XXX, but the ZZZ does everything the XXX did and better".

MNIAW probably would be interested in the ZZZ, but not the YYY. Same here.

But an Explosiv is narrower than an S3, has no rocker, but still skis better in just about every condition. 🤣

Not sure what the problem is here... MNIAW is getting a new pair of the skis he already knows he likes at a price he named, I’m getting some cash and freeing up storage space, my wife is happy to see my quiver going to N-1 for a change, and the rest of you can keep skiing on whatever you want.

Who says I haven’t tried other skis and came back to what works for me?Kaestle FX95, Kaestle LX92, Fischer Watea 96, Fischer Ranger 98, Scott Punisher, Praxis BC, Fischer Ranger 108.

The trees here in VT are tight, so I do ski slow in 3D snow. As I said, the S3 is the best I’ve tried in those conditions. I buy skis cheap so I can have a lot of them. I have niche skis. The S3 is one of them. I probably only ski them 10 days a year.

Awesome. Enjoy. I buy skis cheap so I can have a lot of them, too. We can both agree on that!
