Cool stuff AC. Might be the worlds longest flattest groomer? I bet the gondy will help Tline traffic.

On another note, Feels good to be wasting $$ and drinking beer in a public establishment. One arm is free and no straws required! The 3x/day left handed wrist strengthening sessions have begun.

Went to Grateful Vineyard in Parkdale last night for pizza and beer. Highly recommend that place. 100% unobstructed and closeup views of the N side of Hood, great food, great beer and a good family run operation.

Kickstand and Volcanic Bottle Shop are open in HR. Come visit at a distance and spend $$$ to help local biz!

No offense intended mang! Just a reference to the gondola from Summit/Govy to Tline. Carving turns at mach schnell on Palmer is the bees knees

Honestly, I don't see much skiing value in the gondi. Summit is rarely open/has an incredibly short season due to lack of snow and low elevation. The terrain between summit and Tline is incredibly flat and better suited to XC gear than downhill. Also, unless they create additional glades connecting the two resorts, I predict many people are going to venture off the WROD and into the trees above Govy to get rad in the flats and end up postholing for their lives.

Seems like a parking lot expansion and summer tourist scenic ride.

I support tiny, cheap, flat resorts like Summit and Cooper Spur for learning how to ski. I just wonder why they need to be connected with larger resorts.

I just skimmed the document, so maybe I am missing the point(s)? Mt biking?

i think it is more about access, connectivity, elbow room & parking
there's nowhere to go up at 6k' in regards to development

looking 50-100yrs into the future, mt hood is a limited resource (maybe even a slowly disintegrating one) & access desirability is only going up as oregon population grows

any of my comments above about flatness are made with love
great slopes for all, not just the steep technicians

I am not opposed to the idea.

Currently, govy is ski in but not necessarily ski out. I wonder how and if the additional uphill capacity will bring more development down the road?

    It seems inevitable
But it’s going to bump against the original intent of the set aside for rec development as a best use for the national forest

When the proposal for the gonjola actually comes about I will be making a comment to the effect that one ride lift tickets for backcountry skiing should be made available at an affordable cost. Once the gonjola is in, eventually parking at Timberline will almost certainly be restricted/reduced, especially for backcountry users.

The Mt Hood resorts are starting to power trip with their attempts to reduce backcountry use within and around their permit areas (to allow for more parking for people who pay them $$$s). They need to be reigned in a bit.

I'd love for certain resorts on the SE side of Hood to loosen up their "no uphill" policy, but it is still decent all things considered. I've seen no indication (under normal operations, not COVID insanity) that Tline is going on a power trip. Have you seen info showing otherwise?

an inbounds uphill route for recreationalists would be very popular imho, judging by whitefish's one

i'm wondering about parking for the solstice for a sunset view by Illum Saddle
website says no reservation necessary, but they did limit access on a few days I checked
is t-line still limiting access currently?

Yes I agree it is mostly a Meadows problem. However, Tline has in recent years provided more prescriptive guidance on their uphill policy limiting downhill use of the resort by backcountry skiers (not that this is done in practice). They also don't have a designated route to access the backcountry on the west side of their permit boundary from the parking lot (again not enforced in practice). The point being that even though Tline has been a good ambassador in the past, without something in writing in their lease agreement we would have no recourse should they decide they no longer care about people without $'s.
