I get it, that's why I made the comment I did.
HS?
And it rained more than I thought it would.

Sounds like some warm air came through late, and put a thin veneer of ice down at Bachy.

(Having never looked at MHM telemetry)
Usually HS means height of snowpack. Total depth to ground.
Not to be confused with HST - height of Storm board, or HN24 - height of new snow over a 24 hour period. From noparking’s comment on their standard obs practice, the board is a 24 hour board not a storm board.

I was assuming something like that. This is all from the NWAC site, that column is SnoHt, I would abbreviate is SH, not HS. But yea, it's not rocket surgery to figure out what's going on the hourly snow total goes bonkers, which it does a lot

^^^ jonesy has fallen and can't get up...
That’s just someone writing telemetry code ... just for future reference, especially if looking at NWAC pro observations, HS is industry standard observational definition from “Snow Weather and Avalanche Observation Guidelines” (SWAG).
SH is standard for “surface hoar” - something you really hope not to see below the surface of the snowpack ...

Looking pretty good up there today... anybody making turns?
Lucky bastards. Friday and Saturday look good other than what I am assuming the traffic will be like. Having an infant really cramps my skiing style...
Short day today, 1.5 hrs lapping HRM. Very windy (gusting to 70) so I didn’t bother leaving HRM. Snow was great there, 6”+ of moderate density pow.
Keep an eye on the wind if you’re going out tonight or tomorrow, I think that will be the determining factor for snow quality right now.
Sorry to miss you lucknau, catch you next time.
I watched a snowboarder break loose a good 40’ diameter, 5” thick slab under MtHoodExp this morning. Saw shooting cracks on a few subsequent runs. The wind is fawkin’ rowdy right now. Big fluffy flakes have begun to fall amid the wind battered stuff. Some snow is a little punchy at times, but most of it (that which isn’t exposed boilerplate) is awesome.
Catch you next time thefortrees!
P.S. Billygoats rule.
I will be at Meadows Thursday.
Skipping the weekend resort crowds to tour sat and sun. Anyone been around Tilly Jane recently? What is the snowpack like? Skinnable from the lot?
It's a concern that all forecast models currently show more wind for this weekend than they did for today. Sat out last weekend and felt good about it based on the reports. Much harder call to make with so much new snow on the ground. Hadn't considered it until taking a closer look at the wind situation.
