Anyone ski Boho in early March on a weekday? Does it get packed with spring breakers or not bad? Looks like MSU and UM are split, then rest seem to split to between first week and second week so at least there's that.

Limited experience with the place in March here. I went for a thur-sat trip during the 1st weekend in March once. Thursday was dead, Friday was half dead, Saturday was a bonkers pow day.

Looks like my UP tour next week is a no go. Logistics of a ski trip and leaving momma and 6 month old home for 4 days was a little lofty. Had a decent ski season considering my geographical and family challenges. 2 days at Monarch and 2 days at Chestnut. The possibilities for next season will be more flexible.

Got out for a little sunshine and soft snow today at our local area Coffee Mill. Started quiet and warm and skied til 3:30 when the lift lines started to hit that dreaded five minute wait.

Coffee Mill stoke is always welcome here and sorely lacking. Thank you. That place is a real gem.

Chestnut today before the heat took over. Mid fifties with lots of wind and full on Presidents day crowds later. But spirits were high and lift lines were manageable if chaotic. They had they Happy Hibachi food truck and the bar open at the bottom with music and brats.

    Laps were schralped.

I'll be at Tyrol next weekend for the Wijara race. Mt LaCrosse for their open race the weekend after that on Saturday at least. Excited for both.

Voodoo on Wednesday was perfect. 17 runs. All untracked. 15 skiers including the 2 guides Vern and Will. Not steep, some Headwall then flat spots. The trees were spaced out. I didn't wreck, kept it clean. The snowboarders had a tough time a little bit. We all had a blast.

    Here’s a Vern story:

We didn’t have a lot of money when I was growing up, and I was the only skier in my family, so sometimes it was not easy to be a skier. I appreciated how expensive passes and equipment were, and once I had transportation worked out, my best friend and I didn't miss a single day for years.
When I was 17, Vern put on a pro/am style mogul comp with decent prize money, and a couple of heavy hitters showed up: Pete Moline who had been on the pro mogul tour for years at that point and was known for having worked out a sponsorship from the band Megadeth, and Greg Tuffelmire who would go on to be one of that first wave of mogul skiers who pioneered park skiing.
When Pete won, part of the package was a season pass for next season, which he had no use for…and Vern, in a pretty epic show of good will to both of us, let me buy that pass from Pete, so he would have a bit more prize money and I would get a cheap pass.
Pete sent me a vhs tape of all his televised mogul tour events from the previous few years…it was all really important stuff for me at that stage.
I’ll never forget that, it really meant a lot. Thanks Vern.

How's your daughter doing in racing this season? Haven't seen you guys yet at Chestnut cause I haven't been much, first year I didn't buy a pass in awhile.

Just okay. Her placement is about the same as it was 3 years ago when she bumped into U12. She hurt her arm early December in gymnastics so that has played with her head, especially in slalom. Kinda frustrating but she is working on her fundamentals and undoing some bad habits she developed, not really going fast, but seems to be having fun, which is really what it is about.

I think we were there one day you were there but must have missed you.

On my way to Bohemia. Talking to some locals on the Wisconsin/Michigan border and they’re saying they got 10” since Monday. Hoping for a little more up at Boho but I’m just happy to be out skiing and not working today and tomorrow

Boho got 23" over the last 2 days, should be awesome. Tried to rally the troops into skipping work for a day trip but no one wanted to do a 10 hour round trip to ski for a day.

No motor, owner kept it. I just bought the boat and lift. It’s a 19-footer.

So I’m keeping my eyes open for a used motor, anything from a 40 to 75. I would much prefer a 4-stroke, but money-wise I may end up with a 2-stroke.

Previous owner (next door neighbor to my Gramps) only had a 25hp 2-stroke on it, used it for floating pinochle games. No idea why they were adamant about keeping that motor, it was a POS and very underpowered IMHO.

It’s a 1994, kept in a garage every winter since new. I’ve been on this boat countless times over the years, so I know it’s history.

Paid $3K for boat and lift.

Lift needs new canvas, boat needs motor, plus the labor to move the lift from one side of the lake to the other (I have a buddy with a barge)

I also bought a pontoon trailer for $1K from a relative.

So I am currently at $4K, probably be at around $10K when I am done.

Who knew buying a boat would be an anti-jinx and cause a massive powder dump. You’re welcome everyone !
