SkiBrule's Facebook page says Opening day is tomorrow.

If there is anything new from Snowriver this aft., I will follow-up.

' hope you have a 'Happy' Thanksgiving, and a great Thanksiving weekend !

    Safe travels, please, ugly-

    2019/2020 Midwest Stoke Thread

Upthread a month or so ago AxeBiker was commenting about ski swaps that “it’s just nice to be around ski people” and that’s what Trollhaugen was like today. Ski People who were stoked AF about the start of the season. Overall the conditions were meh, but stoke level was all time. Nice to be a part of that vibe.

After awhile the line got out of control.

they may get hammered, but this is the first snowfall of the season -
    last season, with literally almost no snowfall, they were still making snow and opening terrain Presidents' weekend ;

right now - 12:15pmCentral - it is not snowing here.
This storm is expected later today -
If they can use this snowstorm to create a functional base for 'holiday week' , it will be better for everyone, including old powder hounds like me.

Please Be safe out there (!)

One run is better than no runs. Sneaking a few laps in at Brule during race camp lunch break.

    2019/2020 Midwest Stoke Thread

Stopped by Ski Brule on Sunday and visited the uglymoney clan. Also met the elusive maggot Yooper!

Race camp was in full swing. That Olympic gold medal guy was super cool with all the kids. He was high-fiving the kids and complementing them on having cool stickers on their helmets. Kids were digging it.

Mini-racermoney-ette was crushing the slalom course. She has a smooth fluid style and made it look easy, until you realize just how fast she is going. Lots of real good skiers at the camp, but she really stood out. uglymoney and wife should be justifiably proud of her.

Ski Brule is a cool place, I definitely want to go back when more terrain is open. Lodge has an outstanding taxidermy and antique ski collection.

Report from BaconMeCrazy was that Welch wasn't really worth the drive other than parking lot beers yesterday, but The upcoming weather is going to be good manufacturing. Finger crossed.

Ah, Ski Brule, where a college roommate of mine tried to spray the deck with snow, but must have slid out and nailed the deck with his head. He ended up in a coma for a while and made him a little odd. Hope you are well Tad Possard.

My ski season is on hold.

If you have been reading Gimp Central, my knee has been giving me problems. MRI shows torn meniscus.

Surgery is Friday. Doc says no skiing for six weeks, possibly longer.

Sorry to hear Harry. I was back running 3 weeks after mine ( when I was quite a bit younger though tbh). Hang in there- find a good book series to read while on the mend.

Good luck Harry. I'm sure you'll come back stronger than ever.

It was great to reconnect up at Brule, thanks so much for taking the time to meet up. Too bad we did not get a chance to ski some laps together, but appreciate you letting me ramble on a bit in the pub. I needed that. Crazy that Yooper just dropped in out of nowhere. Haven't skied or seen him live in person since my daughter was a baby. Instant mag summit.

Brule is a special place. The magic is strong.
