    No big deal, drove 2 miles to the Nordic trails and I was the only person there.

    Cold tonight, but still above 0…. I think it’s, like, 5 or something.

    Cold AF out there last night, and sounds even colder tonight. Added to which, I *might* just be fighting the C-rud, which is gonna fuck up the weekend...

    Axe - any recommendations for a binding mount around here ?

    STH2 if it matters.

    ^^ thanks skiJ !
    Great list, I will keep that for a reference.

    Got a text from AxeBiker, he said “mount your own f-ing skis JONG”, then offered up that he has an STH2 jig plus all drill bits, etc.

    Since I don’t know how, he will teach me. Safety first, this won’t happen for awhile as it sounds like he is currently suffering from a viral infestation.

    The STH2’s will be mounted on those DPS Wailer 99’s in my quiver pic above. The BNIB bindings came from MiCol a few years back when he lived in Big Sky as part of a complicated gear swap involving jackets and skis. The skis came from my fly fishing buddy, JH mag Schwerty, last summer, they had a minor tail delam, I was staying at Djongo’s house so schwerty dropped them off and Djongo fixed them with epoxy and clamps. The Wailers are mounted with some steel STH’s with an insanely high DIN. plus wrong BSL. I’m scared I will snap my leg off. So if Axe helps me out that will be a total of 5 maggots involved. What a great community we have here.

    Never been on a DPS ski before. STOKED !

    I Like that story, Harry -

    I hope the DPSs will get mounted before your trip west -
    they can be an amazing tool !

    I read BPM's website about his 95mm daily-driver for wisconsin / the Blue Hills and I think,
    ' this is Not the skiing of my youth (!) '

    yeah (yes) - I saw that axe is Sick -
    kind of put that together after my post above ;
    seems like he has written of catching-up with you for two seasons, and
    between covid safety ( especially For Mom), and ,,,
    anyway. That's in the future --

    Race bindings on DPS kind of makes me chuckle -
    I suppose IF we were 30-50, and skiing 'NO Release terrain' , ,,,
    I recently added a couple of pairs of 914s - likely to be my lifetime binding...

    finally, Thanks Again, Harry, for the 'stoke' you bring to this thread ;
    I admire and I appreciate the way you have embraced midwest skiing --
    Thank you, Harry !

    Feeling a good bit better today. So far, this has been a season of misses, but I’ll be rectifying that very soon.

    Yep - gonna get Harry over to the “Axe gear shop and tuning emporium” once things settle down with this Covid spike we’re seeing. Teach a man to fish so to speak! Maybe a steak in the works there as well, since I owe him for the hospitality he showed me and Mrs Axe out at the Great Big a few years back.

    Not making that mistake again, woke up to -30F wind chill. Checked website, opening delayed until noon “for the safety of our employees “. I’m down with that, plus Packers kickoff is noon so the place will be deserted. 🤠

    Edit to add: glad to hear Axe is doing better.

    Good looking snow conditions and perfect blue sky. No one skis in WI anymore, too busy working on the Ron Johnson re-election campaign?

    skiJ, you will love this

    you know how The Narrows between Mud and Pokegama have a bit of current, so the ice is either very thin or even open water. Some inebriated dumbfuck on a snowmobile did not know that and went bombing up the channel. [emoji33]

    In related news, the local tree service just announced they are expanding their business to include sunken snowmobile recovery. [emoji16]

    Sunken snowmobile recovery only, or will this include other vehicles, say a Bronco or crew cab pickup truck? Asking for a friend.

    Anyone ever ski at Wilmot? I am aware it is a tiny place with a vertical drop that I am embarrassed to even type, but for someone who 1. has an epic pass (i.e. no cost to ski there), 2. lives an hour away, 3. just wants to ski park, is it adequate?
