Actually the solstice is today, December 21. I was referring to a minimal amount of daylight reaching the surface yesterday, and I was right: https://cliffmass.blogspot.com/2019/...e-history.html
Happy Winter Solstice, it's my favorite day of the year, although I always find it a bit anti-climactic, as the days lengthen so quickly afterward. I'm a big fan of the low sun angle, and it's on my bucket list to spend a couple of winters a few degrees further north. Only 7 weeks lefts to ski pow on solar aspects, so get after it!

Wet (but snowing at the lot) at 7:45. Temps appear to be dropping as snow is improving.

This is fucking bullshit. Eastern Washington is conservative as fuck, there must be a few virgins over there we can sacrifice.

Wow today was wicked a fun at Stevens. Goats were the tool of choice and concrete was slayed! Parking lots were half empty and brooks express was money!

Everyone and their mother went to crystal toady. First they shredded the lift line of REX. Then they poached some green valley. Then, at 1130 they broke for lunch and left the rest for me 🤷♂️

Was there some fresh to enjoy or all ruined overnight? Also, any new by the time you left? Considering touring up there tomorrow. Thx!

Already working on it in earnest, thanks.
Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. Different strokes for different folks.
Although, compliments to your home hill, Aaron, I've had a big old grin on my face more or less the entirety of the time I've been over at the Windy Hill getting my early season legs back. Seriously, it's a cool spot. My compliments.Last edited by glademaster; 12-21-2019 at 08:04 PM.

Up night skiing with my boy at the Hwy2 resort. Seems like there would have been some fun hot pow today if you were adventurous. The new Brooks Express is going to help move a lot of bodies although the choke point between Brooks and the new Skyline loading area is going to get someone killed. Snow felt more like spring skiing, but coverage is getting better. They need to groom the hell out of this place to make it work for Christmas break crowds. BTW, I have never seen a Saturday night session this empty before.
In constant pursuit of the perfect slarve...

Heading to the great white northern dead end w/ my dad in the morning. Looking forward to him showing me stashes I've known about for seasons. Y'all think the C7 trees are filled in enough yet?

It actually stayed nice up high. Like 5500 ft+. Little to no new accumulation, maybe like an inch, when I rolled out at 2ish. I think you'd have better luck with a more northerly destination, but who knows. Also, I don't know what nwac was calling today/tomorrow but warnings yesterday kept me out of the Backcountry.

Frozen chunder at west is the name of the game... Seems as though alpental's grooming strategy has been adopted temporarily over here. Character building for...also getting called a slow poke on skis by my 5 year old was pretty not suckytoo sure

First lift served day of the season for me at West. Snow was meh, human entertainment was excellent.
Y’all sure it snows here?
