Follow up. I have yet to ski the ZGTP, garage fit observations only at this point.

    1) ZGTP is harder to get my foot in to than the lupo, but not as hard as a Tecnica mach 1.

    2) Fit with the stock liners and footbeds is similar to lupo pro HD, but lower instep and much better heel hold. Some weird pressure over the top of my foot from the tongue. Stock footbeds suck and are very thick. Feels slightly more narrow in the toe box. Slightly lower volume throughout I guess, but not much.

    3) ROM doesn't feel superior to the lupo HD, which is quite good with tongue removed.

    4) I moved my tour wraps with superfeet green foot beds from my Pro HDs over to the ZGTP, and they fit like a glove, but don't walk as well as the stock liner.

    5) ZGTP feels stiffer than the lupo, or maybe just not as progressive. I suppose actually skiing in them will refine my observation here.

Overall, very pleased with these out of the box, and I love that I can drop my tour wraps in and achieve a similar fit to what I was getting in the pro HD.

    1. Remove cuff
    2. If you have no punches, bake entire shell. If you have punches, just heat up the area in front of the ankle/instep with a heat gun. Go slow and you won’t damage the gaiter.
    3. Put a semi rigid spacer under the ankle buckle cable. This is to stop the cable from digging into the soft plastic. But it needs to be flexible enough to allow the plastic to curve in when buckle is tightened. I made a strip out of the bontex shin that comes with the boot.
    4. Put boot on. Without the tongue.
    5. Put shim under cable and tighten cable until it feels tight on your ankle.
    6. Let cool

This will reduce the heel-to-instep distance on this boot which is huge. It will make the shell actually wrap around your ankle and retain it better. I found the cable did little for heel retention because the wheel is so deep and there is no plastic in front of your foot.

Awesome! Read your post, thought about it for two minutes, and threw the clogs in the oven. Used the top buckled strap as the shim.

Salomon oven or heat gun. I think that is 175 F. You can always use you home oven at its lowest temp and then turn it off so it cools a bit. Lots of tutorials online.

I did 85 celsius. In freetard units, anyone's guess.

Will do. Fit feels better now that they've cooled, be interesting to see how they ski. Sat or sun.

Mod worked! So good that my pedal feel became a lot less stressful. They really stopped sucking!

Interesting. Instep buckle moved to the rear cuff pivot--like. Pivot looks higher than the pro HD. Last change to 99mm--don't like that. Nice looking power strap. What about those tongues though? Said to be non-removable? If they figured out how to make that boot walk just as well without removing the tongue, that would be sweet. Seems like it will transition easier, but walk and ski worse though. Forward lean is said to be adjustable.

Jury is out on these, looking forward to reading reports from the field.

Page is currently pretty scant on spec details. Was also wondering if the BSL’s will be the same…

I'm starting to think they incorporated the walk mode from the lupo air, which eliminates the tongue and uses the lower clog to limit the forward motion of the cuff in ski mode. If that's what they did here that tongue can be somewhat more flexible to allow for walking.

Actually, looks like they may be using something akin to the ZGTP walk mode, where the lever engages on a bar to limit forward motion of the cuff:

I doubt that this boot will walk as well as the Lupo--I sure hope it does--but I foresee removeable tongue mods being done.

Looks like their standard Lupo style walk mode lever - some better pics of the back here: https://mpora.com/skiing/ski-gear-pr...ter-2023-2024/

Also - I don't think they're doing the plastic shim like they used in the Air, as that puts all the flex on the cuff, and would negate the use of a Pebax Tongue

Although... I think modding regular lupos into Lupo Airs for bigger spring touring missions would be sweet. If folks are interested I could whip up some CAD on the cuff shim to 3D print.

I just got the new Cabrio LV 130 in the mail to replace my old Lupo Pro HD's (which I'll keep for the little bit of touring I do). I tried on the new boots in the living room, and I gotta say, I am not super stoked. The upper cuff pivots very easily and the plastic feels thinner and weaker than on the Lupo. I felt like I was practically collapsing them just flexing into the floor. Definitely a lower instep as well, which I guess will be great for most people but the high instep of the Lupo was perfect for me. They do not feel any wider in the midfoot but roomier in the toes. I compared both boots while wearing my zipfit liners.

I probably should have done a little more research before ordering, but I had a good opportunity for a deal. Anyways, I think I'm dumping these and tracking down a Krypton.

p.s. has anyone figured out how to DIY Lupos into Lupo Airs?

Thanks for the review. To make a lupo into a Lupo air all you need is the rear blocking mechanism. Not sure how difficult it would be to order that part from dalbello.

Luke warm reception from diehard Dalbello fans at the shop with the new Cabrio. People with no prior experience are fairly stoked.

To me and everyone else, the ankle and forefoot are much much roomier than the pro/krypton. Feels more like the ax but with less instep and forefoot height.

The plastic feels more like the Panterra and seems cheap. I’ve yet to work on it. The ankle buckle has a clip on it because the buckle doesn’t want to stay closed with much tension and when you overflex it, it would definitely pop out. Interesting.

It fits more like a normal mid volume boot. The old lupo lasts were strange fitting. Worked for some people, but weren’t normal. Really high over the entire foot and shell fit long, but fit short (because of the ver exaggerated heel pocket that most people had trouble getting into. The new boot has straightened that out.

I still think there will be no issue putting the lip tongue on the cabrio free.

First ‘professional’ reviews (albeit brief) I’ve come across thus far of the new line, fwiw. Includes a section of (even briefer) individual tester comments.

May give a try at some point, but this off-season was able to score a fresh set of green Pro HD’s for $299, so couldn’t pass that up. They should keep me satisfied for at least the next few seasons, if need be. And I’m sure more deals will show up here and there as places continue to clear out their stock of the ‘old’ stuff..

And essentially the Krypton AX TI/ Lupo AX HD replacement:

That's a pretty weak effort at a review and Im not sure what 4.25 for "anatomical fit and initial feel" means. 4.25 out of 69?
