Ya Sharon Stone seems to have changed her look a bit since Basic Instinct

Sometimes, brain lock kicks in. I knew I should know the answer but for whatever reason just blanked on Stockholm. Derp. Obvious

My armchair jep analysis says yes, daily doubles are harder depending on dollar Amt. In general though I think they are almost alway easier than the final

Example: a 400 clue is always easier than a 1600 clue, do the clues stay the same and it just becomes a Daily Double or are all bets off and you could get a 200 clue or a 2000 clue?
It seems to me that the double Jeopardy is always going to be found in one of the bottom 3 squares so if first round, then a $600, $800, or sometimes a $1000 square (rarer than the other 2). If in the 2nd round then they are in 2 squares on the board in a $800, $1600, or $2000 square more than the first 2. I do not think it has been in the first square of a row- the easiest question in modern Jeopardy. And I think the difficulty is the same as the level square it is found - so more difficult than just the first 2 levels.

Former contestant says that production explains that the clues are all established and then Daily Doubles are randomized over the board. I think however the randomization works, the first lowest priced clues are eliminated and the second row is lower probability, although I do think they happen.

I bet those statistics have shifted in the years since. Lots of changes have been made to the showpiece

possibly, but it does seem about the same- none in the first row, more in the bottom rows. I'd like to see them equally divided, including in the first row, to get people back to picking the first row early; now they are left to the end making the rounds more anti-climactic

Well, for what’s it worth it DDs don’t do much good if they are found early and don’t have much value.

but that already happens- people start hunting in the higher values first because it's always better to beat someone else to it even if you don't have much to bet. If they were equally spread around might as well go for the low ones first because they'll be easier to answer

If they go for the low ones first then they double as low as 200 dollars max. So that just doesn’t work. May as well keep starting at higher amts. Then at least a higher Amt would be doubled. Having DDs as lower amts does not motivate to run the board top down at all. Just the opposite

that's not how DDs work- it doesn't matter its value, you can bet whatever you've accumulated in the game at that point, not including the amount of the question if it had been a regular question (or 1,000 in 1st round, 2,000 in 2nd round if you have less than those amounts). The only difference is that the ones under the higher amounts may be more difficult.

That’s exactly how they work. If it’s early in the game, your max may be the square value of 200. That’s why is better to go large value whether there are dailies there or not early. It would suck to hit a daily on a low value square right out of the gate. And that’s a big reason why dailies are rarely found above the 4th row

I don't know if you've watched alot of J!, but if so the next time you watch you're in for a serious Berenstain Bears moment. From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeopardy! :

Before the clue is revealed, the contestant who has selected the Daily Double must declare a wager, from a minimum of $5 to a maximum of their entire score (known as a "true Daily Double") or the highest clue value available in the round, whichever is greater.[9][12] Only the contestant who chooses the Daily Double is allowed to answer the clue and they must provide a response
("highest clue value" is $1,000 in the first round, $2,000 in the second round)

The point i was trying to make is there really is less upside to hunting daily doubles until you have a stack of cash. If you are just hunting it’s better to go 4th row or bigger to build a base. A bunch of 200 questions ain’t gonna do that

How can the two of you argue and bicker when most of us still haven't come to grips with the loss of Lisa?

I think it's only obvious in retrospect. I didn't come up with it either.

I doubt Hitler ever wore such an ill-fitting jacket.
