There were a number of well known high altitude physiologists in my grad program, including "the great John West". Dude's house had fleas.

Dr. West's place was in La Jolla, so sea level. Super nice guy, just have your clothes dry cleaned afterwards to ensure any (flea) eggs are destroyed.

i puked all over the inca trail once. i highly recommend a day or two of acclimatization.
